#2 Paul gets his Legion of Honor medal.
Ahhh Mom, Ohhh Boy, and I were waiting in line to go into the Orsay museum in Paris in 2008. Ohhh Boy noticed the Legion of Honor Museum right next door. It was closed for the time we were there, so we put it on our itinerary when we went back to Paris in 2012.
As we walked to the door of the Legion of Honor museum, we were being followed by people in a protest parade (they weren’t after us or anything, they were just behind us). The security guard at the door realized that we were not with the protest group so he let us in and then locked the door behind us. We had the whole museum to ourselves! All the workers were falling over us to show us all the special medals. It was so much fun! When we were ready to leave, the security guards let us out the back door so we wouldn’t have to wade through the protest group. I felt like such a VIP that morning!

May 26th of 2013 – the date my life changed when Ohhh Boy took me to a Paul McCartney concert at the FedEx Forum* in Memphis, TN.
The day the Beatles were about to enter my life, Paul was at Graceland. (wearing sunglasses) sidebar: I bought my first car at the dealership that was next to Graceland. That dealership has moved across the state line into Mississippi now.

I always have a hard time reconciling George’s unpleasant memory of his visit with all the “spotty youths” of Haight-Ashbury; and all the photos of that day which show him smiling blissfully behind his sunglasses (heart-shaped, no less); I guess his trip turned into a bummer afterwards.

Graceland is super ghetto now though. All the houses/apartments are falling apart. It’s weird because you go from DeSoto County (MS) and it’s super nice and preppy, then you cross the state line into Shelby County (TN) and everything is falling apart and you’ll probably get shot for no reason. Although I did survive going to downtown Memphis yesterday.

I took this picture in 2017. While waiting to turn into the parking garage to go to Paul’s concert, I looked out my window, and OMG, Paul drove right by me. I yelled. He waved.
That’s my side mirror in the lower right of the picture. One of Paul’s security vehicles can be seen in the mirror.
