That’s not your grandfather!
it is you know
but I’ve seen your grandfather, he lives in your house
That’s my other grandfather, but he’s my grandfather as well.
Great screenwriting from Alun Owen

Yes. Help has more funny lines than AHDN , but AHDN ‘s screenplay is so much better. The Beatles’ acting was better too… probably because they hadn’t discovered marijuana yet
True. I’ve probably been more influenced by AHDN . But the “famous” jokes never get old. Repeat random phrase= laughs.

Yeah 🙂
I originally watched AHDN , Help , and YS as a kid and then didn’t watch them for a long time. Recently I rewatched them all, and I watched Help like five times in a row (I’m not kidding, I actually did that). Don’t Ask Me Why , I just felt like it. Because of that, I know Help a lot better than the other movies. In a lot of the scenes, I can literally mouth the lines along with the actors/Beatles… it’s scary. But it’s such a good movie that it never gets old. And I still like AHDN better

A random question that popped into my head: What part of the bathroom scene in Help ! is the best?
I’m tied between:
1. George and John laughing at Ringo’s sudden apprehension
2. That magic moment when George walks in and his shirt gets ripped off
3. Paul grabbing onto the sink, ripping it off the wall, and instantly getting blasted in the face with a stream of water.
Also: which bathroom scene is better? The one in Help or the one in AHDN ?

I’d say: George getting his shirt ripped off and Help !

Ages since I last saw them both, but from memory ….
AHDN – the studio scene where they (esp. John) poke fun at poor Victor Spinetti’s woolly sweater and the scene where Ringo lays his coat over a puddle for an attractive woman to step over and she plunges into a big hole…so so childish I know! But really funny
Help – John in the jeweller’s shop examining the jewels with the magnifier in his mouth. The loon. In the Bahamas where Paul is crawling along the ground muttering something about hot feet and George, in his usual sanguine self, turns to the others and says ‘Don’t encourage him’. Paul whistles for his bike and it falls over

The intermission scene from Help ! was great and so was George’s intro for Yellow Submarine .

Yeah, I think it was Silverhamer who started a similar thread a few days ago
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

It was only for YS though. The two threads could probably be merged. Although I think silverhammerYT’s thread was also about favorite characters– is there a Favorite Characters from Beatles Movies thread? If not it might be a good thing to have

Yeah, they were slightly different – I think that they both had the poll option, a bit of a deja-vu thing…
If there isn’t a thread already, “Nonbeatle perfs” is totally worthy of one! Especially in the first two films, the actors were such pros, working so well to help four nonacting Liverpudlians not embarrass themselves. (Probably helps that the roles themselves were usually pretty funny, and that all the talent involved were adept at comedy.) Simon, Famous Inspector, waving neighbour ladies, bowler hat gent – these people deserve acknowledgement!
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
