Starting this topic with the caveat that I searched and couldn't find a thread on his films in general.

A blog post on "The Magic Christian," and other Beatley connections. I was surprised to learn this:

The role of Youngman Grand was originally offered to John Lennon , who was tempted to perform the role but eventually had to decline due to legal difficulties related to his October, 1968 arrest for possession of marijuana.

But a John Lennon silent scream/tiny face scene wouldn't have been the same!

Still haven't seen the whole movie yet. Should do that sometime.

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

I saw the commercials when I was a kid, and even a Beatle fan I couldn't muster the interest.

Oooops, I'm talking Magic Christian for Raquel, as we all know Ringo's wife Barbara Bach was in Caveman, and also in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.

I bought Cave Man on bluray today. Magic Christian is next on the list.

Was this out of choice or under duress? I've seen some of 'Cave Man'; would have been time better spent re-shelling a raw egg.

Uniformly awful movies for mine - but fun in places.

Lol. By choice. I've heard it's bad, but I usually like bad movies. We'll see.

You and Zag have that in common. Our DVR is overflowing with one-star movies - mostly bad horror flicks. Lavalantula anyone?

I don't get into those movies, @Shamrock Womlbs - that is strictly my wife's territory. It would take me by complete surprise if she has not seen Killer Clowns... - the movie titles are hilarious.

Don't sweat the derail thing too much - I'm the derail king.

Thanks. So long since I have seen any of them it's interesting to hear who does and doesn't like them now.

I don't see how a person can't like it. It's not like it was pretending to be intelligent or sophisticated. After all, it is about cave men. I'll definitely watch it again.

I actually thought it was pretty clever, and I laughed more than I have at some other films that are supposed to be funny.
