It should be noted, if looking for it, that An Alternative View of Beatle History is the episode title, as the series is called Paul Merton’s Beatles.

Oh. Thanks.
It sounds dire and won’t be something I’ll be listening to.

There will be an interview with Paul McCartney on my local radio this afternoon! Unfortunately, I’ll be in the middle of (the much dreaded) English exam, so I’ll see if they put up a podcast afterwards!

Hi. I’ve made a 1 hour radio show containing cover versions of every track from Sgt. Pepper . It’ll be broadcast this Wednesday 1st June 7pm on ‘Upload Radio’ on DAB in Surrey and South London, or available anywhere online at https://beta.uploadradio.com/s…..ers-banned plus will be on the website for 30 days after broadcast, so you can listen whenever you like. It won’t be every Beatle fan’s cuppa tea though, I’m sure!!

For those able to access the BBC News channel, or who have access to the iPlayer (where I assume it will appear), this month’s Witness (a monthly programme that revisits historical events with someone who witnessed them), being shown several times this weekend, the second item featured in this month’s is Mike McCartney looking back at the Our World/All You Need Is Love broadcast.

It’s up and has been available for a couple of weeks. I watched it at work, interesting it was too.

They showed the original black and white version instead of the colorized version, I wish they showed the colorized version because the colorized version is more popular and they did a great job colorizing the footage, so great that I originally thought that it was in color to begin with.

‘Our World’ was originally broadcast in black and white and the episode of ‘Witness’ is about the original broadcast, not Apple colourising ‘All You Need Is Love ‘ for the ‘Anthology’.

I’ve yet to listen to it

I forgot to post this a few weeks ago but there’s a short play (35 mins long) up on the Irish RTÉ website. It’s called ‘Death and the Beatles Fan’.
The little blurb: Tony a Beatles Boffin has a visit from Death and only his encyclopaedic knowledge of the Fab Four can save him.
I haven’t listened to it yet but it’s been well received.

Thanks for sharing this, it was hilarious! It’s definitely worth a listen as it’s very Beatley (there are great conversations about Beatles songs and trivia), incredibly funny, and the strong Irish accent (at least that’s what I assumed it was) is an added bonus!

Yes, that Beatles conversation in the pub is very droll, in a jocular sort of way. I could hear echoes of many a comment or argument on Beatles Bibles over the years.

Hi – sorry I don’t post here very often but I am a regular ‘visitor’.
Anyway I was listening to the Kenny Everett special on Radio 1 Vintage the other day and surprisingly this featured a surprise ‘interview’ with John Lennon , with other group members apparently present in the background. Everett goes into Abbey Road where the Beatles are doing..something, and has a pretty weird conversation with John – both seemed to have shared a similar sense of humour!
Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere.
cheers

For those of ye able to view BBC4, Friday night (10th) is another of their semi-regular “Haven’t shown anything Beatles for a few weeks. Let’s have a night of BBC Beatles documentaries on BBC4” nights.
9:30 Storyville: How the Beatles Rocked the Kremlin (repeated at 2:10am on 11th) – an interesting look at the history of the group with Soviet Russia;
10:30 Sgt. Pepper ‘s Musical Revolution with Howard Goodall – Goodall doing what Goodall does well;
11:30 Arena: Magical Mystery Tour Revisited – an interesting behind-the-scenes;
1:10 on 11th …Sings the Beatles – various people from various eras covering the Beatles, many of the usual suspects.
Certainly things to enjoy in that evening of programming.

As I’m typing this, the station is now playing ‘Hey Jude ‘. Beatley Moment anyone?

For my fellow British forumpudlians, BBC 2 will be showing A Hard Day’s Night on Boxing Day at 11:55am. I’m debating whether to watch this myself, as I did see the film earlier this year on YouTube, but might do to keep the film fresh in my mind.

One of the more unique themes of a radio programme and it’s courtesy of BBC Radio Scotland (we really are that brilliant a country).
Beatles and Bob Dylan Songs That Fit Every Theme
Tonight it’s the Bob and Beatles Tombola. We’re after songs written by the Beatles or Bob Dylan that fit the theme that’s been pulled out the tombola.
Available to those who can access the BBC radio player until it expires on Friday 16th February at 9pm.
