A bit surprised there isn't a topic for this. I just got the DVD for Paul's collection of animated shorts for which he did the music, including Rupert and the Frog Song, Tropic Island Hum and Tuesday. Geoff Dunbar, who collaborated on Paul's children's book, High in the Clouds, directed them.
So far I've only gotten through Tropic Island Hum. It's very cute, lovely animation. Beautiful lighting and color and shading. Knowing that Paul did all the voices is a bit weird, though. He does a passable job of distinguishing his voices - after all, we know from his singing that he can do that. But it does feel like he's talking to himself after a while.
Wonderful World of Disney fans will appreciate Paul's intros, they're very Walt-like.
Haven't gotten through all of it yet, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen these? I've heard good things about Tuesday, so I'm looking forward to watching that one.

Did a bit of sleuthing and found this WogBlog post looking back at his animated projects, with YouTube links to films not included in this animation collection and a link to his Golden Globes appearance (with a very funny joke) . I wonder if the animated feature is still happening.

I wonder if the animated feature is still happening.
And yes it is:
From Daily Variety: an animated film based on Paul's children's book High in the Clouds is set for a 2015 release.
Paul McCartney ’s children’s book “High in the Clouds” is being developed as an animated movie with former New Line toppers Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye producing through their Unique Features banner with RGH Entertainment.
The film will be released in 3D in 2015. The book — which centers on a squirrel’s quest to find a fabled animal sanctuary called Animalia — is written by McCartney, Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh.
McCartney will compose several original songs for the film. Tony Bancroft, whose credits include “Mulan,” will direct the feature from a screenplay by Josh Klausner (“Shrek Forever After”). Evolution will spearhead the global licensing and merchandising campaign for the film.

^^ Kind of goes along with the idea of Paul seemingly answering mainly questions from young people in that monthly question thing on his website.

I suppose, though likewise, I find Paul to be on the patronizing side writing-wise. The one I like the most of his shorts is "Tuesday," which is more less juvenile in tone.

More on Paul's animated film project:
Paul McCartney is back, in a big way. I can tell you EXCLUSIVELY that while Sir Paul was recuperating from his recent illness he moved plans forward for his animated film. I told you about this project almost exactly three years ago.
Since then, a couple of things have happened. I’m told that producers Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye have received a finished script that everyone’s happy with.
Second: Offers are out to directors, and one will be named before the end of the summer. Originally, Tony Bancroft (“Mulan”) was rumored, but he may not be the choice after all.

Is the 2015 release date (see post #4) still the target or will it be after that considering that its been on the back-burner for a few years?

If they just got an approved script, there's no way it's going to be fully animated in a year.

Article on Paul approaching a female music star for "High in the Clouds." There's an audio clip. I think he coughs "Gaga," but hear for yourself.

Paul McCartney Taps New Writer for Animated Movie
It’s helter skelter (last Beatles joke, I swear) as famed Beatle and Wing Paul McCartney has found a replacement writer for his animated film in development, High in the Clouds. Hollywood writer Josh Klausner (Date Night, Shrek Forever After) has been replaced by British scribe Jon Croker, whose past credits as screenwriter include Desert Dancer and The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, as well as writing credits on the movies In Fear, Fast Girls and Ealing Comedy. Prior to screenwriting, Croker was a production assistant on the third and fourth Harry Potter movies, and a story editor at UK Film Council for movies like Attack the Block, The Iron Lady and Berberian Sound Studio.
High in the Clouds has been a passion project McCartney has developed since 2009 with French studio Gaumont. Its first iteration came as a children’s book that McCartney co-wrote with veteran children’s writer Philip Ardagh (the Eddie Dickens series for Scholastic) and was illustrated by animator and cartoonist Geoff Dunbar, who had previously collaborated with McCartney on the 1985 animated short Rupert and the Frog Song. Dunbar is reportedly working on the film version of High in the Clouds.
The environmentally conscious book depicts the adventures of a squirrel named Wirral, who journeys to the fabled paradise of Animalia after his home is destroyed and his mother murdered by industrial expansion. Reads the official synopsis: “When Wirral the Squirrel is forced to leave his woodland home, destroyed by the expansion plans of the evil Gretsch, he vows to find the fabled land of Animalia, where all the animals are said to live in freedom and without fear. Aided and abetted by Froggo the hot-air-ballooning frog, Wilhamina the plucky red squirrel, and Ratsy the streetwise rodent, Wirral’s personal quest turns into a full-blown plan to save enslaved animals everywhere – a plan which is fraught with danger.”
In addition to producing, McCartney is slated to voice one of the main characters and contribute 9 original songs. Collaborators with McCartney on the soundtrack will include Lady Gaga and Pearl Jam’s lead guitarist Mike McCready. Cody Cameron (Open Season 3, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) is slated to direct. Gaumont is producing in association with Lynne and Bob Shaye of Unique Features and McCartney’s MPL Communications. Gaumont’s credited producers will include CEO Sidonie Dumas, vice-CEO Christophe Riandée, and President of Animation Nicolas Atlan. Together, they will take these broken wings and learn to fly (I’m sorry).

Wow, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. The cartoon sections weren’t that great but the Wings performances were really energized and the band performed with films playing behind them and there were film sequences interspersed with the concert. I hope this gets a Blu-ray release. It makes me wonder what else is in the vaults. I really enjoyed seeing Paul perform Maybe I’m Amazed and My Love with Linda there.
