I bet Julian skips over that extended scene where John is playing with cute lil Nicola whenever he watches MMT.
Ringo gets hysterical/historical!
Aunt Jessie’s dream. That waiter better get a really big tip from Aunt Jessie cause he is earning every bit of it.
Elevator empties out in the dining room at table level, so naturally the people exiting walk on the tables.
How did Mal get such a coveted spot at the topless dining table with Jolly Jimmy and the crew? Why do they keep changing seats? Is there a draft in the room?
The waiter is named Pirandello. Good choice. After the initial awkwardness, he and Aunt Jessie are hitting it off.

Oooh, into the tent! Jolly Jimmy’s big number!
The crowd loves him. I always get a kick from how he promptly drops Miss Gabriella on the floor to ham it up a little more and soak up the adoration by himself.
“Blue Jay Way .” I wonder how Patty felt about George’s other wife and kid. I think the flower John is wearing must have been genetically engineered. Does the bus hit George the moment after the frame freezes? A GID clue maybe?

They’re having a lovely time! They’re having a lovely time! These magicians are really invested in the success of the mystery tour.
Drunk crooner Ringo wants everyone on the bus to join in. Yay, everyone’s wasted! Thinking Of Linking.

John is really impatient for the girlie show to start.
The Bonzos are solid. Sweet microphone toss! Great throwback to when the pre-Ringo Beatles were hard up for gigs and played backing band for a stripper.
John squirming in his seat. I wonder if he will like the next number as much … oh, he’s in the next number you say?

I thought there was going to be some debate about MMT with 20 messages but nope just a continuous dialogue from one poster.
At this rate you’ll be on the rooftop in no time!

Ahh, the indelible image of the Beatles from my youth — “Your Mother Should Know .” I still love it to this day.
Uh oh, Ringo is gonna fall off that inner step 30 steps high on that massive staircase. RID clue. John can’t keep his balance. JID. George looks like he’s having a good time, in that mellow Georgeish way.
Sing it again!
No Busby Berkeley-type number would be complete without some suggestion of a military formation. Paul is presented with a bouquet of flowers for his hard work.
Uh oh, Paul’s riffin’ now! I mean, he’s really on a tear here! Watch out people. Give him room, Beatles; Paul gonna do his thing.
John looks like he is utterly insane through this entire number. Ringo appears to be a zombie upon close inspection.
The number ends, Paul pulls faces and John finally cracks. All is as it should be.
Hey, suddenly the crowd is here, and the magicians too! And Mike McCartney is happy again. Jolly Jimmy wants to party. So bring out the coke, Paul, and the pills, John! Party time for the Magical Mystery Tour !
The End .

I agree with Zig. The only scene I did not care for was the endless marathon scene. It seemed to go on forever. And it was never clear who won the race.
I love the marathon scene. Watching Ringo skidding around the track in a huge psychedelic tour bus was one of the great moments of my life. I still can’t believe he actually drove the bus
Love one another.

Watched this again the other day. I’ve never been the biggest fan of this, but I have to say, it’s starting to grow on me. I do wish it had been a bit longer though. 50 minutes or so was nowhere near long enough.
Has anyone seen the documentary on the DVD extras, the making of the Mystery Tour? It’s a decent watch. One part I thought was funny, was when they were filming the ballroom scene for Your Mother Should Know , apparently as they were filming, the electricity went off so everyone was standing round in the dark waiting for the engineer to fix it, and they were worried that the dancers they’d hired for the scene were going to get bored and leave because they had to wait around for so long. Luckily, obviously they managed to get it fixed in a reasonable time.
It also talks about how Lennon and McCartney turned up every morning at the editing suite, and I couldn’t help thinking how boring it must have been, sifting through reels and reels of film.
Was a good watch

The extra stuff is better than the actual movie. You can see bits and pieces from the Blue Jay Way filming where they’re rolling tires at George and driving the bus really close behind him and stuff, it’s hilarious.

You have seen the videos for Blue Jay Way , Strawberry Fields Forever , Penny Lane and The Fool On The Hill , right? (You most likely have, but I’m just making sure as those are some of the best music videos ever).
