Yeah, the police tell Mal to switch off the amps, so he complies. IIRC correctly John’s guitar was going through a Fender Twin valve amp. George switched it back on, but it took a few seconds to become audible (as Fender Twins do).

I like the film very much, together with the fly on the wall naked disc you know everything about the sessions you need to know (i think it’s very important that you know both because both together make the best picture of the sessions you can have and if you just know one of them the picture is unfinished, i just don’t like it that none of them features window, window a very fine song). A DVD release would be nice

I thought the Fly On The Wall bonus disc was completely useless, very short clips of tracks and bits of chatter. Played it once and then forgot about it. If we’re going to get a bonus disc give us complete songs not 30 second clips.

Some are very complete like Because I Know You Love Me So, the Don’t Let Me Down /Sun King part, Maggie Mae /Fanfy My Chances With You, Paul’s Piano Piece. But I agree a complete version of Child Of Nature would be nice, although I think the rest of the recording is very bad and the chorus on naked is the best part of the whole recording. Anyway why isn’t on the Child Of Nature beatlesbible released on let it be… Naked instead of unreleased and the personell of the naked version instead of an unreleased one?

I just watched the fillm Let it Be for the first time in who knows how many years and the impression that seems to come across to me now that I’m a bit older is that John comes across as basically being “high as a kite” and completely aloof. He just seems totally benevolent to everything that is going on around him. Paul seems frustrated that he’s no longer able to “connect” with John and therefore he “takes control” of the band and is caught lashing out at George because of the vacuum that is left by John not having a care in world.
I absolutely appreciate the songwriting genius and magical appeal of all four of the Beatles, but heavy drug use does eventually take a toll. I’m starting to believe that it was the personality change that occurred in Lennon particularly that caused much of the tension that broke up the Beatles.

Personally I’m not particularly bothered about hearing Child Of Nature properly; I feel like I can get it on Imagine , with better lyrics. I mean really, the whole “nature peace and harmony” thing was already sliding out of fashion when the Beatles were rehearsing it, not to mention that the lyrics of Jealous Guy are far more mature, personal, realistic and compelling.

I would agree with you there. Considering that he had once been such a potent driving force for the band, when John abandoned interest in the Beatles they were almost certainly doomed. He was into heroin during that period and is clearly zoned out most of the time, plus his physical appearance betrays poor health; very thin, usually unshaven, greasy hair, bad teeth. In contrast, Paul seems to put on quite a lot of weight 1969-70, probably related to the heavy drinking he claimed he was undertaking during that time to cope with the stress being put on him, and knowing his penchant for pot I bet he was eating quite a lot as well.

Feeling left out, I haven’t been able to watch it because it hasn’t been released on DVD. I’ve always felt like I’m missing out by not having been able to watch it as of yet, I know a lot of people say that it’s not much good but I think, good or not, it’s a must for any fan, possibly?

Strange how Let It Be was taken down yet you can watch the all their other films complete, even Magical Mystery Tour . Definately a must see for fans just be prepared for a more gloomy film at times – tho the ending is really good.

i LOVE let it be. Yes it shows a dark time for the group and yes they are far from their best in the footage and all that, but it’s still fascinating and captivating to watch. I personally just enjoy seeing them playing together as a band and this movie has lots of that so that alone makes it a must have.
It’s funny i was watching help the other day and i couldn’t help but think of how fluffly and rather pointless it was. I mean TERRIBLE story line, rather blah performance footage and did i say terrible storyline? I’d actually rate Help as my least favorite movie attempt/release. I find let it be far more fascinating and important a release with far more replay value. It really NEEDS to be released properly on DVD/bluray. Something tells me we’ll see it soon enough. maybe within a couple of years. It would generate a lot of money for Apple.

It smells of an Apple coo the removing of the Let It Be from Youtube since you can see all the other films in their entirety. A Beatle blackout.
A site called Veoh has the film complete however you have to install the veoh web player to watch it all – you do get the first 5 mins as a preview.

Love this film in a weird way. The first time I saw it, I watched in on YouTube. I didn’t know at the time what was going on within the group because at the time I did not know that much about their lives. However, from the opening scene of the film I could tell something was odd….and then all the weird cuts…and then the argument between Paul and George. I thought “man they really just slapped this one together..”. The rooftop concert makes it all worth it for us viewers, and it is a great look into The Beatles. But the more I learned about what was going on, the more I grew to love, and at the same time grew sad about it all. Its almost like saying “Not for the faint of heart” if you are really into The Beatles, but I love it regardless. Its an important part of their story.

I love the part of the movie when John and Yoko dance to “I, Me, Mine.” They looked so cute, but they teared the band apart. I heard that John did not play on any George song that he didn’t like. Is that why he’s dancing instead of playing his guitar?

Paul doesn’t seem to care all that much when Across The Universe is brought to the table.
That’s a rather throwaway remark; if someone hadn’t watched the movie carefully, they might conclude accordingly. However, I distinctly recall Paul playing along as John is singing, and Paul is giving it his all, and showing by his eyes and body language that he likes and respects the song.
That counts for something, does it not?

The director sometimes had a good eye for things that were seemingly trifling, but actually said a lot.
Example, the day Paul arrives late with Linda and his little toddler daughter. The director focused in on the little girl during a long moment, which was ingenious. She unwittingly revealed two things: how good Ringo was with kids (he plays a little game with her, pretending to be asleep at the drum “kit” (as you Brits say) while she is taking a drumstick to drums and cymbals, then Ringo suddenly “wakes up” — to her giddy surprise.
The other moment was when the girl had been running around, playing with Ringo, doing this, that and the other thing, then in a flash, all Paul had to do was communicate the slightest body language to her, effectively saying in a non-verbal way “Okay darling, you’ve had enough fun, it’s time to quiet down.” — and what was amazing was how she instantly obeyed: you don’t get that kind of obedience from a child who is not loved. And it shows what a good father Paul was.
Other directors would likely have completely ignored these moments, and focused on all the grown-up hippies lounging around in there as the Fab Four were among them, chit-chatting.

It should be noted that LIB in full is currently up on YouTube. It has been since September. Unfortunately it is shown sideways. I am happy to tell anyone how I got around that if they PM me. I don’t wish to break any site rules about illegal material though. I do now have a full-screen copy of what Sadtember has posted on YouTube however. Up the right way.
