Now why do you think the Beatles decided to do a live song, after retiring from Live music in '66?
I know, I know, it wasn't full concert and full tour, but what made them come out of their shell??? I'm sure Macca had something to do with it.
And yes, they also did it for the "All You Need Is Love " world-wide Satelite broadcast, but that wasn't really live, but in the studio with musicians & friends.

Not all of Hey Jude and Revolution were live, from Joe's entry on their appearance:
Only The Beatles’ lead and backing vocals were recorded live, although instruments and amplifiers were set up. The Musicians’ Union had placed a ban on miming, and the live vocals were attempt to hide this.

Ya, I figured the overdub, but assumed it was on The David Frost show. Interesting to know it wasn't actually on his show, but that he visited the Twickemham set.

Somehow I only just watch this yesterday - just over 50 years after it been recorded.
There is a question in the comments "I wonder if the people who got to sing along ever knew how lucky they were to be making history that day in 1968, 50 years ago.." - does anyone have any information about the people in it and what happened to them?
