‘Good Ol’ Freda’: Beatles secretary Freda Kelly to do documentary

October 11, 2011 – Just when you thought you’d heard all the stories possible about the Beatles, a new documentary is in the works that will knock the socks off Fab Four fans hoping for new revelations and intimate secrets. Good Ol’ Freda is the untold story of Freda Kelly, the Beatles’ trusted secretary and friend throughout their career as the greatest band of all time. She was Brian Epstein’s secretary and also President of the Official Beatles Fan Club. Under her management, the fan club went from 100 fans to over 70,000 by the time the band broke up. Freda is sharing her memories publically for the first time.

“In the works” might be a bit premature. They're trying to raise money to fund this. More info here: http://www.kickstarter.com/pro…..d-ol-freda

The poster that you get for donating $4,500 looks tempting, but I don't have any money to spare.

Personally I'd rather she just wrote a book. Books have more longevity than films IMO. But I generally prefer books to films anyway.

For those who didn’t catch “Good Ol’ Freda” at South By Southwest (including me), I just learned that Magnolia Pictures has picked it up for a release later this year.

I’m looking forward to this.

Yeah I posted this in the news thread. I’m very excited.

And here I thought I was putting it in the right place.  Hmm, is it a movie, or is it news?  I haven’t quite learned the forum “ways” yet.

It is a movie but Joe set up that thread to curb the threads opened for one-off news bits. Check it out – it’s under Yesterday and Today.

That looks really good and Freda comes across as a lovely and warm person!

I hope this’ll available somewhere any time soon.

Imagine the stories she has.  Especially the ones she keeps to herself.

The secretary of the Beatles, eh?  Would Paul saunter into the outer office where the secretary sat, throw his hat to land perfectly onto the hat-tree, and sit on the corner of her desk to trade slyly charming double-entendres before he would go in to see “M”…?

Oh wait, that was James Bond and Miss Moneypenny… Never mind…blue-meanie

Certainly looks good, far better than most documentaries where people with far less of a connection tell their story. Also cool that Apple sanctioned the inclusion of 5 Beatles songs, often its some lousy sound-a-like who actually doesn’t.

For anyone in the LA area, I just got an email that this screening at the Don’t Knock the Rock festival is now going to be free. So if you purchase a ticket, you’ll get a refund.

Thanks for sharing that, Dr Beatle, it was a good read. I really want to see this film now!

In future, could you keep things like this to the ‘Beatles News’ thread, though. It seems a better, general thread to post it, rather than creating a brand new one.
