Someone posted a link to his page the other day, and he was talking about how he hadn’t been invited in some of the comments. I think because someone asked him why he wasn’t at the tribute show. I’ll try and find it.
EDIT: That’s strange, I can’t find it. He posted a message, something about the 50th an. and someone asked him why he wasn’t there. He replied on a few different occasions and the general vibe was a tad bitter, and definitely hurt. The post just isn’t there anymore, not on his fb or his twitter page.
Yes, I’d posted the link in the news thread.

Thank god for that, so I’m not going potty! Is that not his fb page then?
One of the comments where I thought he sounded a bit bitter is where a woman a Cynthia says he should’ve been there, he says he offered… then down further, when asked why he wasn’t there, he says ” What… and stand in the audience clapping along, watching other people sing Beatles Karaoke? No thanks…”. Why did he offer to perform if he didn’t want to be there?

That’s definitely him. He offered to perform, but when he was turned down for that, he didn’t want to just sit in the audience as the consolation prize instead. I can understand his feeling insulted.

Same here. Otherwise he’s no different from Sean on that night. Speaking of Sean, he confused me because they’d show him singing along and dancing slightly, but his face looked so bored. He either just isn’t a very emotive person or he was bored and faking it for the cameras. Really weird when seeing his mother going nuts dancing, and Paul and Ringo clearly getting into it (not to mention Nancy really having a good time!)

I think the former. I can’t think of a photo or video where his expression isn’t completely flat (even when he’s smiling).

Sean stuck out like a sore thumb, so much so that the wife was cracking jokes about it during the show. I think Sean didn’t really want to be there, but felt he had to, being John’s kid and all. To be fair, with all the baggage that comes with being the kid of a Beatle (which Julian has talked about a lot at times), I don’t blame him.

No, I guess it’s not easy. I dunno, I mean obviously I can’t really empathize, but he must be proud of his dad, surely? And this was to celebrate him and the other boys….

The only McCartney kid I can recognize right away is James, and I didn’t see him at all.

Not that I know of.
But here’s an interesting bit of news – a friend of mine was a seatfiller at the event, and she said Jane Asher was there.

Weird that Jane would be there…? Especially as she’s completely distanced herself and refused to talk about ANY of her experiences in the 60s and with Paul.
Re: Sean feeling the burden of being the son of a Beatle, I’m sure he hasn’t hesitated to use that to his advantage in the past. Also, if the Japanese part of him is what’s so flat affect, how to explain Yoko dancing and smiling and singing like a Woodstock hippy?

I thought about that, but then I realized that’s probably me reading too much into it. Her not wishing to cheapen the relationship by discussing it doesn’t mean she doesn’t have an amicable relationship with Paul.

I’m not sure she could have been there, and this may be a case of mistaken identity. She is currently appearing in a touring production of Moon Tiger, based on the Penelope Lively novel, and it seems she was on stage at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham during that week, with a review of the production published on the 28 January – presumably of a performance on the 27th.
http://www.gloucestershireecho…..story.html
Moon Tiger tours until the end of February, and in interviews Jane has expressed the hope that it will transfer to the West End.
On the special, it seemed to draw a good audience, ranging between 13.35 million and 14.785 million. Not the audience share of 50 years ago, and beaten into second place by Olympics coverage, but neither of those is a surprise.
A full breakdown of the figures can be found here:

^^ Exactly. She hasn’t sold her story (I’m sure she must have a lot to say), and I really admire that. They still get on, though, and she still played a part in ”the Beatles story”.
What I said about Japanese people, yes Yoko was dancing, and in that way she expresses her feelings, but look at how she replies to some of the questions hse’s been asked about John’s death. She’s so cold about it sometimes, almost like she doesn’t care. But I’m sure she does. She seemed to just accept it so easily, and that’s what I meant. It seems inbuilt in people of that culture to deal with pain and loss differently to us. Anyway, my point was that his looks could be deceiving. If he always looks bored, then how can you tell when he is and when he’s not? (he can’t always be bored)
EDIT: Mja posted before me. Maybe she wasn’t even there, then.
