I prefer shopping on Amazon versus other sites because their return policy is more than fair. When we moved into our new house, I ordered a new shower head for the master bath to replace the builder’s grade one. When I alerted Amazon that they sent me the wrong one, I fully expected to go through the exchange process. I was happily surprised when they told me to keep the wrong one and they would ship the correct one right away. There must be a monetary threshold on that policy because one other thing I had to return (worth more than a $30 shower head) warranted an exchange.
Hopefully all of you who ordered the Blu-ray will get the right item on time. Fingers crossed.

I agree about the Amazon return policy. They may occasionally ship a defective, damaged or wrong item but they will take any return for any reason, and they always pay the return postage.
It’s also super easy to cancel any order for any reason.

An interesting article on the ‘1+’ release from the New York Times.
Interesting to read that the ‘1’ cd continues to sell 1,000 copies a week and contrary to reports ‘Penny Lane ‘ wasnt the first time Ringo rode on horseback. All four Beatles rode horses in Alton, Missouri on the 19th September 1964.

Well, it looks like all the kerfuffle may have been for nothing – mine arrived today and it is the Correct item: 1+ Deluxe with CD and 2 blu ray. Hooray!!
Just opened it, and it is rather a lovely wee thing. Smaller than I anticipated, but vibrant and handsomely presented.

So, some very brief first impressions after playing the two blu ray discs for a wee bit.
A small number of the videos, surprisingly, left me a little disappointed and underwhelmed. Not the level of clarity I had hoped for. Though I do understand that there’s only so much that can be done with certain source materials.
The bulk of them look terrific, at least in some ways or other.
Some of them look simply, bloody, flabbergastingly brilliant. Felt like old spaniel-eyes McCartney was crooning just for me in the later piano ballads. The Chiswick House scenes are sharper than a ninja’s blade (no hiding that tooth now, Paul), and the Shea Stadium footage looks glorious.
The book’s a lovely little thing, and worth spending some time with.
However, it’s the sound that really has blown me away. I never thought the Beatles could sound so good through my – rather modest – television. Really, quite stunning in parts.
Positive impressions so far.

I should have mine tomorrow but I can’t enjoy it until Saturday because I’ll be at the opera.
Crikers, that is a fabulous-sounding excuse for not being able to do something. ‘Oh…. terribly sorry but I’ll be at the opera…’
Goes well with your current avatar. John looks like he could be peering through opera glasses.

Interesting interview with Giles Martin.
I liked this line about 1+:
There are Beatles ashtrays, and then there’s this. If you want to spend your money on something, spend it on this.
He also talks about his ambition to tackle the 1977 Hollywood Bowl album, and his involvement in the Ron Howard Live Project.
Whether he is talking about a possible re-release of the 1977 album (something most have long discounted ever happening), or in relation to the Ron Howard film, he says:
So I will be finding ways to make Hollywood Bowl sound great, and you will hear it.
So, could the plan be that a remastered Hollywood Bowl will be a part of the Live Project, either as a stand-alone or as, say, a bonus on whatever “soundtrack” release is issued?

Alas, this project is too expensive for me, but I’ve enjoyed the clips people have put up here. I saw the 5th part of the restoration clips on Youtube and the Hey Bulldog clip looks terrific. I’ll probably grab the single DVD version at some point.

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Cool. I can only imagine how hard it will be to make Hollywood Bowl sound good.
Good to hear, he is involved with Ron Howards Film too!

There’s something in my mail box. For some reason, I thought it would be delivered to the apartment office. So, it looks like I will be holding this in my hands tonight (won’t have any time to watch it until later though).

@Expert Textpert – have fun! We went to see The Magic Flute earlier this week. It was the first opera I’ve attended in which the lyrics were translated and sung in English. It was nice to not have to refer to the surtitles, however some of the phrasing seemed a bit awkward (especially in the arias).
