Just finished reading "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!: The Beatles and America, Then and Now" by Michael Tomasky.
A very quick read, but it was a different type of book about the Beatles. It discussed the culture in the USA before the Beatles arrived and how it changed after. Not only the impact they had on the culture and attitudes of the time, but also their impact and influence on how music was conceived, created and marketed.
Has anyone else read this?

Haven't heard of it until now but thanks for mentioning it - sounds interesting!
Jonothan Gould's "Can't Buy Me Love " covered some of the same territory.
One day, a tape-op got a tape on backwards, he went to play it, and it was all "Neeeradno-undowarrroom" and it was "Wow! Sounds Indian!"
