I know that the original 77 issues are available for download, which I have, but what the Christmas specials and issues 78 onwards, I'd love to see those, although they probably aren't as reliable as a source because unlike in the 60's when Mal and Neil were writing them while The Beatles were still around, these other issues were written by someone else and were written after the fact. I do think the original 77 issues would make a great book though, I sure wish they made issues in 1970 instead of stopping in 1969, it would've been interesting to see.

Issues 78+ are out there. They are very good for articles on the Beatles and solo years as well as having information on the later Beatles reissues and releases; for instance, there are reports on early configurations of Anthology 2 and 3 with songs that were eventually dropped.

A lot of that stuff would be interesting to read. I have read very little of these magazines, which is part of the reason that I was wondering if they had been released in book form.

And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

Do you guys agree with everything this book says, I personally do for the most part because it was made while The Beatles were still around from people who were associated with them, often Mal and Neil, so I therefore rank it higher than any other source besides photographic or film evidence. However, there still are a few things that are mentioned in the magazine that seem a little iffy, here's a few:

They claim that Paul played harpsichord on Fixing A Hole . Unlike most of their claims, I tend to ignore this one because George Martin claims that he played harpsichord and also that neither Mal nor Neil were allowed at the session.

They also claim that Ringo sang backing vocals and clapped his hands on Dear Prudence . Although it is possible that they got Ringo back from vacation in time for the overdubs or that Ringo did some overdubs by himself after he returned from Sardinia, it seems unlikely.

They then claim that John is the sole vocalist on I'm So Tired . I haven't looked into this one so I can't say whether I think the backing vocals are from Paul or John.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Is there an online version of these books so i don't have to download them, that'd be great. I can't even find this on torrents anymore but i really love The Beatles and learning about The Beatles.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Hello Fellow Beatle Fans:

I've just joined the Beatles Bible. I have a collection of Beatle Books and would like to obtain a number of issues that I do not have (#'s 1-5). I have several duplicates of certain issues and will exchange for the ones that I do not have.

Hope to hear from someone.

Thanks.

Ev

Ev, you're missing the earliest books, printed in smaller numbers than later issues, so a little harder to get hold of. Suggest you try eBay, or other online marketplace. Reprints from 1970s are commonly sold as originals, so don't believe everything a seller tells you! Of course, if you don't mind reprints - they contain exactly the same info - just buy the Appreciation Mags, which contain copies. Steve

#'s 1+5 circulate online freely. Not that helps you if you want physical copies.

Hiya, I'm new here and very nice to meet you all. I'm looking for some advice, I  inherited about 40 plus Beatles monthly mags and also 8 beatles vinyl. Was wondering if they are worth holding in to or sell them , if so what's their value, as their pretty much useless to me. All advice richly appreciated! 🙂

Hey @vonniexx ! I moved your post to our catch-all Beatles Monthly thread to keep everything in one place.

I couldn't give you a good idea sorry (though they'd be worth a little bit I would assume.....) though I know there are plenty of people here who will be able to tell you more precisely.

Best way to find the current value of anything is to go on eBay and check under 'sold' listings.

Obviously, the originals are worth more than the reprints as well.

Here is a guide on how to spot an original, which was found by Joe, after a lot of digging last year.

The Beatles Book (also known as Beatles Book Monthly) was a fanzine dedicated to the English rock band the Beatles, founded in 1963. It was first published in August 1963 and continued for 77 editions until it stopped publication after the December 1969 edition. It was revived in 1976, and ceased publication in 2003. It was sort of the Beatles Bible of the time, since serious rock press did not exist. There was no internet, so if you wanted some pictures you had to buy them. I never had a subscription, but the cool local librarian kept copies available (probably to get teenagers to come in). There are high quality scans of the original 77 issues available on the Internet Archive. Just enter The Beatles Book Monthly in the search screen. They really are a great way to look back to when the Beatles were happening. The fan letters are really FAB. beatlemaniacs_02_gif

Note, most of the books discussed on the forum are also available for check-out in one hour intervals. (membership is required which consists of email and password). To access these choose Advanced Search and enter The Beatles in the "Any Field" search screen. The owners of the Internet Archive believe a digital library should be governed by the same "fair use" laws as a regular library. To date there are 38 million books and 14 million audio recordings available Note - the  owners are being sued by most of the big publishing firms who disagree. Court cases are pending...

I have read all 77 issues of the original run. It's a fabulous magazine. Two years ago, I bought 'Postcards From The Boys ' at a market and the lady who was selling it, gave me a copy of the March 1988 issue for free.

That's cool Rube! I remember in the sixties there were always dog-eared copies kicking around. It always felt like they were the only available direct connection to the lads (besides the fan club communications). Btw-if anyone is thinking of purchasing the Postcards book, there is a copy available for check-out at the Internet Archive. I'm looking at it right now and it's pretty amazing. a-hard-days-night-ringo-7
