He said essential Joe!
I just heard this today. They give it a lot of mentions and really speak highly of it. I’m going to have to get it.

So, I guess this will represent my re-entry to this forum for now (although, on what basis, I can’t promise). I found out about the book through a google search of my name (yeah, save the ego jokes), and I found out @Joe was kind enough to place me in his acknowledgements. I’ll be placing an order once soon, because I have to support a man willing to do that for me. Glad to be back, and thanks Joe!

On the subject of the Beatles and drugs……..I was well served for heroes in my adolescence ……..With the Beatles, John and Paul being at the top. The fact that they took drugs never ever influenced me. Never considered for one second that because they took them I should try. I read today so much about how we are influenced by our heroes…….And wonder if that’s true or something else is at play?
Fashion wise I followed along but drugs even smoking nicotine…….Never.
There’s a podcast called Glass Onion : On John Lennon which has taken a very deep two-part dive into the subject of the Beatles and drugs, with my book framing the discussion. The whole thing lasts over three hours.
Antony Rotunno’s guest is Tom Hunyady from the 2Legs podcast (I don’t do media appearances). It’s an excellent exchange and well worth setting aside the time to listen.

I can honestly say I didn’t do drugs when I first heard the Beatles….

Though slightly off-topic, in that it doesn’t mention Joe’s book (though may well have been inspired by it), an interesting selection of audio and film of The Beatles and others in their circle discussing drugs. Thought it would fit quite well in this thread.
