Mine starts in the 1950s and ends in 2015.
@ewe2 It’s up for preorder now on Google Play Books: http://hyperurl.co/ridingsohigh
I had to price it slightly higher because they often reduce prices by 25% and I didn’t want Amazon to price match. Sorry about that – it seems that authors have little control over the actual prices on Google. But at least it’s there.
It’s also on Amazon and iTunes/iBooks: http://hyperurl.co/ridingsohigh
and Kobo, whatever that is: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebo…..-and-drugs

JoeI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
Thank you everyone. It means a lot. I hope the book doesn’t disappoint…
The final proof copies arrived today, and look very lovely. I’m doing one last read-through before it goes on sale. One week to go!

I’m at page 186 on the ebook, and I think there’s a typo at the top, a doubled word?.

Today I learnt Google has a copy quota on ebooks. But I managed to get it:
‘Even Mick said it was fantastic, because it was. I guess most people would think the Stones may have had mixed feelings at that moment, and perhaps they did. But, possibly due to the laced punch, the main feeling was one of: aren’t we all the greatest bunch of young geniuses to grace the planet and isn’t this the most amazing time to be alive. It was as if only with this group and at that moment could Paul have done it. We had a sense of everybody being in the right place, at the right time, with the right people.’ people . 383

Thanks @ewe2. I’ll upload a new version with that fixed. I’m not sure if it’ll get pushed out to you – I’m not familiar with how Google deals with that sort of thing.

I went to several local bookstores today and asked for the book. Noone seemed to have heard anything of it and, unfortunately, also noone seemed to be able to order it for their bookstore. Some told me, however, to come back tomorrow and they’ll see whether they can do anything about it. Of course, if it doesn’t work this way, I’ll buy it on Amazon but I hope at least now some interest is raised among the owners of the bookstores, that would be so cool if I could see ‘Riding So High’ on a bookshelf in a shop one day.

Thank you @Martha. I’m sorry your trip was in vain!
I should mention that I’ve self-published it through Amazon’s CreateSpace. Bookstores should be able to able to order copies from me via the ISBN records, but it might not yet be in their systems (it *should* be in the Ingram database, which I think most bookstores can access). I’ll have to check. I’m a bit new to all this!
I’ve not really pushed the bricks-and-mortar side of things. It’s a print-on-demand book, so I don’t hold any stock, and Amazon prints and ships whenever people place an order. The last thing I want is for a bookstore to order copies from me on a sale-or-return basis, which would mean I have to order them from Amazon, get them shipped them to the retailer, then have to accept returns of whatever doesn’t sell (losing money in the process).
TBH I’d much rather everyone just bought it directly from Amazon (or, in the case of the ebook, from Amazon, Google, iTunes, Kobo etc). I know it’s good to support local booksellers but for me, as a writer, it’s a bit of a headache, and I get literally pennies per copy (far less than Amazon sales).
Aha, just seen this on Amazon’s Expanded Distribution page (ED is their way of making your book available to physical stores, libraries etc):
Timing
It may take up to six weeks for your title to begin populating in the Expanded Distribution channels that you select. Additionally, changes to any details of your book including list price, selling information (such as your book’s product description), or your book’s files may take up to six weeks to update in all the Expanded Distribution channels. The Expanded Distribution channels don’t update simultaneously, so your book’s previous list price, selling information, or files will persist until the change propagates throughout these channels. Your book will still be available with the previous list price, selling information, and file information until the new changes propagate through the Expanded Distribution channels (approximately six weeks).

For those who have bought (and hopefully enjoyed) a copy, would you consider reviewing it on Amazon? I’ve got one five-star review so far, which is fabulous (and much better than five one-star reviews!), but more would give people a good idea of what to expect from the book.
http://geni.us/ridingsohigh (this should take you to your nearest Amazon store). PLEASE write me a review if you have a copy!
(@Ron Nasty, @AppleScruffJunior, I’ll get copies to you soon, I promise. It’s been a bit mad here lately.)
In other news, I just did an interview with a Californian pro-pot website (not normally somewhere I’d visit, but it seems to have plenty of interesting features):

Thank you @ewe2! That’s really very kind of you.
I’d forgotten all about Google Play, but I’ve sold a few copies on there (really just a handful though – most have been on Amazon). It looks like you can read the whole of chapter one and a good chunk of chapter two there too, which is a bit of a shame because I think the book gets a lot better later on.
