As some of you may or may not know, Canongate have just published 50th Anniversary facsimile editions of both of Lennon’s literary musings. The rrp. is £12.99 each, however the publisher itself is selling them at a special Christmas rate of only £5.20 each, with free post and packaging.

“What the heck”, says I three days ago, “I’ll order ‘In His Own Write’, it’s a bargain!”

Today I received two wee flat parcels in the post. I open the first, and it’s my “In His Own Write”, a lovely wee hardback facsimile of the original, and of course a 1st edition (of the new).

I open the second, wondering if it’s a blu ray I ordered, and out pops ‘A Spaniard in the Works’. “Oh, bugger”, says I. “I didn’t order this! And now I’ll have to send it back or pay for it”. Next thing I know I see a nice Canongate compliments slip inside, with the handwritten message, “Dear Neil, Happy Reading and Merry Christmas. Best, J— and team. :-)”

Checked my order slip and bank account, and sure enough they only charged me for one. So I have ended up with both 50th Anniversary editions for the princely sum of just £5.20! Nice touch or what? God love you Canongate!

They only deliver to the UK sadly, or I’d be getting a copy, but here’s the link for all the English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish ‘pudlians.

Seems a good deal! a-hard-days-night-john-1

Well done, @Mr. Kite – I never thought to add a link!

That’s a shame about non-UK delivery, though.

Ocassionally, you can find a friend who will ship things to you across the Atlantic. You can pay postage by putting money into their PayPal account.

I got to see an early draft of A Spaniard in the Works at the Hard Rock Cafe in Venice.

Thanks very much @Wigwam , I had not seen that before. I enjoy interviews of John in which he answers questions seriously. It probably helps when he is asked great questions as well. The interviewer did a nice job.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

That interview was on Paul’s birthday. I’m glad he mentioned Paul during the interview.
