Um…

I'm gonna have to get back to you. I'll probably post my list in an edit.

I forgot to add Arcade Fire's The Suburbs to my list when I edited it. I don't think I'm ever been so excited for new music. EVER.

25 songs? that's tough. I won't include Beatle songs, because they would be in the whole top 25. These are not the best songs I ever heard, but rather, the ones that mean a special moment in my life.

1. With or without you – U2.

2. Where the streets have no name – U2

3. Bullet the Blue sky – U2

4. Stay (Faraway so Close) – U2

5. Broken Wings – Mr. Mister

6. Shout – Tears for Fears

7. Viento – Caifanes.

8. Whiskey in the Jar – Thin Lizzy

9. Get it while you can – Janis Joplin

10. Little Wing – Jimmi Hendrix

11. A whiter shade of Pale – Procol Harum

12. Me and Bobby McGee – Janis Joplin

13. Crazy for you – Madonna

14. Take a bow – Madonna

15. Spending my time – Roxette

16. King of Pain – The Police

17. Every breath you take – The Police

18. When I see your smile – Bad English 🙁

19. Photograph Smile – Julian Lennon

20. Everybody wants to rule the world – Tears for Fears

21. Head over Heels – Tears for Fears

22. Cuando pase el temblor – Soda Stereo

23. Safe from Harm – Massive Attack

24. Beautiful Day – U2

25. Teardrop – Massive Attack

26. Lamento Boliviano – Enanitos Verdes

27. Sinead O'Connor – Nothing compares 2U.

I'm sure I left out many more.

Here comes the sun….. Scoobie-doobie……

Okay I've been trying to think of this list for a while but I think I may just name the first 25 that come to mind. This isn't in any order, the numbers are just so I know when I get to 25.

  1. Happiness Is A Warm Gun – The Beatles
  2. Across The Universe – The Beatles
  3. Hey Bulldog – The Beatles
  4. A Day In The Life – The Beatles
  5. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) – The Beatles
(I'll stop before it becomes a list of 25 Beatles songs)
  6. Working Class Hero John Lennon
  7. Baker Street – Gerry Rafferty
  8. Mr Blue Sky – Electric Light Orchestra
  9. American Pie – Don McLean
  10. Ain't That A Kick In The Head – Dean Martin
  11. Beetlebum – Blur
  12. Bennie & The Jets – Elton John
  13. One More Time (or any track off of Discovery) – Daft Punk
  14. The Rhythm Method (Move!) – Flobots
  15. Reptilia – The Strokes
  16. Best Of You – Foo Fighters
  17. Human Nature – Michael Jackson
  18. Man Who Sold The World – Nirvana (I know it's a Bowie cover but it has to be this version)
  19. I Wanna Be Adored – The Stone Roses
  20. El Manana – Gorillaz
  21. Nightswimming – R.E.M
  22. Plane – Jason Mraz
  23. Dancing In The Moonlight – Toploader
  24. Marblehead Johnson – The Bluetones
  25. Ain't No Sunshine – Bill Withers
Ah I know there's so many I've forgotten but that'll do on impulse.
I also realised that I was tempted to include some songs when it was actually just the music video that I loved, eg:
  1. Teardrop – Massive Attack
  2. Here It Goes Again – OK Go
  3. Just A Day – Feeder
  4. Californication – Red Hot Chilli Peppers
  5. The View From The Afternoon – Arctic Monkeys
  6. Once Around The Block – Badly Drawn Boy
etc etc etc.
(As soon as I post this, a million song titles are going to miraculously appear in my head, I just know it aha!)

Man Who Sold The World – Nirvana (I know it’s a Bowie cover but it has to be this version)

I remember – two days after my brother’s birthday, I was at this great record shop in Ottawa with my mom and him. And the day earlier, I had seen the MTV Unplugged CD in those “Used Blow-out” bins (you can always find something in those things), and then when he was there I showed him the CD. He flips for it, because (unbeknown to me at the time) this show is like great. So, fast forward a week. I’m struck cleaning up with my mom (boo at cleaning, yay to being with my mom), she played the CD. With this song, I knew it, but I didn’t know why. My mom isn’t a big Bowie fan, so I haven’t a clue why. Just one of those things that music inspires. (Still haven’t figured out why I know the song, though. I think I’m still partial to Come As You Are.)

Edit: I'm watching that Californiacation video – so stupid.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 The MTV Unplugged CD is incredible. And seriously! The Californication video as a child was the single greatest thing ever.

Only now saw this topic because it was posted while I was gone. Anyway this list is by far not definitive, because my music tastes changes constantly. So it's the first twenty five songs that come to mind here.

1. Fade With Our Voices- Jason Gray

2. Fashion- David Bowie

3. Moves Like Jagger- Maroon 5

4. You've Got a Friend- James Taylor

5. Love For A Child- Jason Mraz (That song makes me cry every time.)

6. These Eyes- The Guess Who

7. Jungleland- Bruce Springsteen

8. Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying- Gerry and the Pacemakers

9. People are Strange- The Doors

10. Beautiful Day- U2

11. Your Song- Elton John

12. Surfin' Bird- The Trashmen

13. Stardust- Hogie Carmicle

14. Build Me Up Buttercup- The Foundations

15. We Didn't Start the Fire- Billy Joel

16. Blackbird – The Beatles

17. House of the Rising Sun- The Animals

18. What's Going On- Marvin Gaye

19. Heartbreak Warfair- John Mayer

20. Hide and Seek- Imogen Heap

21. Cheek to Cheek- Fred Astaire

22. The Moment I Said It- Imogen Heap (Another song that can easily make me cry)

23. Moon River- Johnny Mercer

24. Mack the Knife- Bobby Darin

25. An American in Paris- George Gershwin

A lot of songs are left off there because I tried to give each artist about one song. And it changes a lot too.

"I am definitely a mad man with a box."- Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor of Doctor Who (Episode 1 Season 5: The Eleventh Hour)

Wow, so 14, 17, 18 and 23 could so easily be added to my list, I'm not even joking. I may just be in a permanent state of frustration from now on as I just keep thinking of more songs aha. paul-mccartney

Yeah Love For A Child is a really sad song, I do love a bit of Jason Mraz. a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

I'm not sure if it's possible to include the Beatles. They'd probably clog up all 25, and it'll be hard to chose… mind you, the ordering may not be dead accurate.

1. Alone again (Naturally) – Gilbert O' Sullivan

2. Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak tree – Dawn ft. Tony Orlando

3. Smile – Nat King Cole

4. Bridge over troubled water – Simon and Garfunkle

5. Bad Moon -Creedence Clearwater Revival

6. All Along the watch tower – Jimi Hendrix

7. September in the rain – Dinah Washington

8. Massachusetts – Bee Gees

9. Dream a little Dream of me – Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald

10. American Pie – Don McLean

11. Everything I own – Bread

12. Blue Suede Shoes  – Elvis Presley

13. Why can't we be friends – War

14. Take on me – Aha

15. September – Earth Wind and Fire

16. My Sharona – The Knack

17. Don't stop me now – Queen

18. Twenty Flight Rock – Eddie Cochran

19. Here it Goes again – Ok Go

20. Build Me up Buttercup – The Foundations

21. Unchained Melody – Righteous Brothers

22. Don't dream it's over – Crowded House

23. Yesterday Once More – The Carpenters

24. Feel Good Inc.  – Gorillaz

25. My Generation – The who

Step on the gas and wipe that tear away.
