This is one of my favorites:
Nine of diamonds, nine of diamonds
Lord, that’s a lucky card
We’ll celebrate it
When we made it
I’ll jump all over your yard
I’ll jump all over your yard
I’ll jump all over…
I don’t know what hit me
But I’m seeing stars
This comic book life is like being on Mars
Thousands of warm hands are touching me
All over, all over,
I hope this will never be
All over, all over,
I hope this will never be all over.
The night queen fright witch street parade may fade
When we laugh at the statues of gods they have made
Oceans of love waves are washing me
All over, all over…
Nine of diamonds, nine of diamonds
Lord, that’s a lucky card
We’ll celebrate it
When we made it
I’ll jump all over your yard
I’ll jump all over your yard
I’ll jump all over…
All over, all over,
I hope this will never be
All over, all over,
I hope this will never be all over.
If you feel like your train of thought’s been derailed
Let out your wild wishes from where they’ve been jailed
You’ll feel the future embracing you
All over, all over,
I hope this will never be
All over, all over,
I hope this will never be all over…

Where the gun is cocked and the bullet’s cold
Where the miles are marked in the blood and gold
I’ll meet you further on up the road
Got on my dead man’s suit and my smilin’ skull ring
My lucky graveyard boots and song to sing
I got a song to sing, keep me out of the cold
And I’ll meet you further on up the road.
Further on up the road
Further on up the road
Where the way dark and the night is cold
One sunny mornin’ we’ll rise I know
And I’ll meet you further on up the road.
Now I been out in the desert, just doin’ my time
Searchin’ through the dust, lookin’ for a sign
If there’s a light up ahead well brother I don’t know
But I got this fever burnin’ in my soul
So let’s take the good times as they go
And I’ll meet you further on up the road
Further on up the road
Further on up the road
Further on up the road
Further on up the road
One sunny mornin’ we’ll rise I know
And I’ll meet you further on up the road
One sunny mornin’ we’ll rise I know
And I’ll meet you further on up the road.

One of mine would have to be from “Skinny Love”
Come on skinny love just last the year
Pour a little salt, we were never here
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer
I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in this moment this order’s tall
And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
In the morning I’ll be with you
But it will be a different kind
I’ll be holding all the tickets
And you’ll be owning all the fines
Come on skinny love what happened here
We suckled on the hope in light brassieres
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Sullen load is full, so slow on the split
And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And now all your love is wasted
And then who the hell was I?
And I’m breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines
Who will love you?
Who will fight?
Who will fall far behind?

Lose your dreams
And you will lose your mind.
Aint life unkind? -The Rolling Stones (Ruby Tuesday)
I don’t need to fight to prove I’m right!
I don’t need to be forgiven!- The Who (Baba O’Riley)
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
Threw bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?
People called said beware doll, you’re bound to fall
You thought they were all kidding you
You used to laugh about
People who were hanging out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging your next meal
How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be on your own, without a home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone
You’ve gone to the finest schools, alright miss lonely
but you know you only used to get juiced in it
Nobody’s ever taught you how to live out on the street
And now you’re gonna have to get used to it
You say you never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He’s not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say do you want to make a deal?
Oh, you never turned around to see the frowns
On the jumpers and the clowns when they did their tricks for you
You never understood that it ain’t no good
You shouldn’t let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on your chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain’t it hard when you discovered that
He really wasn’t where it’s at
After he took from you everything he could steal
Princess on a steeple and all the pretty people
They’re all drinking, thinking that they’ve got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
You better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him he calls you, you can’t refuse
When you ain’t got nothing, you got nothing to loose
You’re invisible now, you’ve got not secret to conceal
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone ?-Bob Dylan (Like a Rolling Stone)
“Before you accuse me,
take a look at yourself”- Bo Diddly (Before You Accuse Me)
Rock is dead they say,
Long live rock.–The Who (Long Live Rock)
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end..”-Semisonic (Closing Time)
“I believe I’ve waited long enough
Where do I begin?”-Foo Fighters (Walk)
Just take those old records off the shelf
I’ll sit and listen to ’em by m’self
Today’s music ain’t got the same soul
I like that old time rock and roll -Bob Seger (Old Time Rock and Roll)

He`s got arms like legs
He`s got hands on his feet
He`s got a nose like a doughnut
He`s got a tendency to over eat.
He don`t use tools or weapons
He don`t eat meat
He likes to stick to the bushes
Tends to avoid the streetBut he rides my El Dorado
When he comes to town
You know he`s out there somewhere
Tryin` to track you down.
Look up in the sky
Mama that`s the one
See the mighty profile
Block the noonday sun.He comes from the heart of darkness
A thousand miles from here
That`s the land where they understand
What a woman might like to hear.
You know that he loves you baby
For what you really are
His love is as burning hot
As a big old ten cent cigar. Now most of y`all
Have seen a gorilla
In a cage at the local zoo.He mostly sits around contemplating
All the things that he`d prefer to do.He dreams about the world outside
From behind those bars of steel
And no one seems to understand
About the heartache the man can feel. The people stop and stare
But nobody seems to care
It don`t seem right somehow
It just don`t seem fair...
He`s still a gorilla.
Woo hoo hoo hoo woo hoo hoo hoo!

But the room just filled up with mosquitoes, they heard that my body was free
Then I took the dust of a long sleepless night and I put it in your little shoe
And then I confess that I tortured the dress that you wore for the world to look through
I showed my heart to the doctor. He said I’d just have to quit
Then he wrote himself a prescription, your name was mentioned in it
Then he locked himself in a library shelf with the details of our honeymoon
And I hear from the nurse that he’s gotten much worse and his practice is all in a ruin
I heard of a saint who had loved you, I studied all night in his school
He taught that the duty of lovers is to tarnish the golden rule
And just when I was sure that his teachings were pure he drowned himself in the pool
His body is gone but back here on the lawn his spirit continues to drool
An Eskimo showed me a movie he’d recently taken of you
The poor man could hardly stop shivering, his lips and his fingers were blue
I suppose that he froze when the wind tore off your clothes
And I guess he just never got warm, but you stand there so nice in your blizzard of ice
Oh please let me come into the storm

Leonard Cohen has always been a remarkable lyricist.
Remember “Suzanne”?
Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she’s half crazy
But that’s why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you’ve always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you’ve touched her perfect body with your mind.
And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said “All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them”
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you’ll trust him
For he’s touched your perfect body with his mind.
Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she’s touched your perfect body with her mind.

In Denmark, we just play for love.

’39 by Queen. I’ve always liked the skiffle feel and Freddie’s vocals, but I only recently realised what a sad and beautiful piece of poetry it is:
Assembled here the volunteers
In the days when lands were few
Here the ship sailed out into the blue and sunny morn
The sweetest sight ever seen
And the night followed day
And the story tellers say
That the score brave souls inside
For many a lonely day
Sailed across the milky seas
Ne’er looked back, never feared, never cried
Don’t you hear my call
Though you’re many years away
Don’t you hear me calling you
Write your letters in the sand
For the day I take your hand
In the land that our grandchildren knew
In the year of thirty-nine
Came a ship in from the blue
The volunteers came home that day
And they bring good news
Of a world so newly born
Though their hearts so heavily weigh
For the earth is old and grey
Little darlin’, we’ll away
But my love this cannot be
Oh so many years have gone
Though I’m older but a year
Your mother’s eyes from your eyes cry to me
Don’t you hear my call
Though you’re many years away
Don’t you hear me calling you
Write your letters in the sand
For the day I’ll take your hand
In the land that our grandchildren knew
Don’t you hear my call
Though you’re many years away
Don’t you hear me calling you
All your letters in the sand
Cannot heal me like your hand
For my life, still ahead, pity me

All the rowboats in the paintings
They keep trying to row away
And the captains’ worried faces
Stay contorted and staring at the waves
They’ll keep hanging in their gold frames
For forever, forever and a day
All the rowboats in the oil paintings
They keep trying to row away, row away
Hear them whispering French and German
Dutch, Italian, and Latin
When no one’s looking, I touch a sculpture
Marble, cold and soft as satin
But the most special are the most lonely
God , I pity the violins
In glass coffins they keep coughing
They’ve forgotten, forgotten how to sing, how to sing
First there’s lights out, then there’s lock up
Masterpieces serving maximum sentences
It’s their own fault for being timeless
There’s a price to pay and a consequence
All the galleries, the museums
Here’s your ticket, welcome to the tombs
They’re just public mausoleums
The living dead fill every room
But the most special are the most lonely
God , I pity the violins
In glass coffins they keep coughing
They’ve forgotten, forgotten how to sing
They will stay there in their gold frames
For forever, forever and a day
All the rowboats in the oil paintings
They keep trying to row away, row away
First there’s lights out, then there’s lock up
Masterpieces serving maximum sentences
It’s their own fault for being timeless
There’s a price to pay and a consequence
All the galleries, the museums
They will stay there forever and a day
All the rowboats in the oil paintings
They keep trying to row away, row away
All the rowboats in the oil paintings
They keep trying to row away, row away…

They made a statue of us
And they put it on a mountain top
Now tourists come and stare at us
Blow bubbles with their gum
Take photographs, have fun, have fun
They’ll name a city after us
And later say it’s all our fault
Then they’ll give us a talking to
Then they’ll give us a talking to
‘Cause they’ve got years of experience
We’re living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We’re living in a den of thieves
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
We wear our scarves just like a noose
But not ’cause we want eternal sleep
And though our parts are slightly used
New ones are slave labor you can keep
We’re living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We’re living in a den of thieves
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
The tourists come and stare at us
The sculptor’s marble sends regards
They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
Our noses have begun to rust
We’re living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
Were living in a den of thieves
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious
And it’s contagious

I am
Down the road and up the hill
I wait for you still
Wires ’round my fingers
Potentially lovely
Perpetually human
Suspended and open
Open
Open
I am
Through the woods and past the trains
I wait here in vain
Scrubbing out the stains again
Potentially lovely
Perpetually human
Suspended and open
Open
Open
In the night, the snow starts falling
And everybody stares
Through their windows at the streetlights
Too beautiful to see
I am
In a room I’ve built myself
Four straight walls
One floor
One ceiling
And day after day, I wake up feeling
Day after day, I wake up feeling, feeling
Potentially lovely
Perpetually human
Suspended and open
Open
Open
Open
Open up
Your eyes
And then…

That’s it, it’s split, it won’t recover
Just frame the halves and call them brothers
Find their fathers and their mothers
If you remember who they are
Over and over they call us their friends
Can’t we find something else to pretend?
Like nobody’s won and we’re safe at the end
In the darkness the film machine’s spinning
So let’s leave it on
We’ll be out in the street
before anyone knows that we’re gone
That’s it, it’s split, it can’t recover
Just frame the halves and call them a whole
And chip at the bricks and fill up your pockets
With the pieces of the wall that you stole
The hunt is on, everyone’s chasing
Everyone’s chasing a shot
A shot rings out, nobody wants it
Nobody wants it to stop
That’s it, it’s split, it won’t recover
Just frame the halves and call them brothers
Find your fathers and your mothers
If you remember who they are
If you remember, if you remember,
if you remember who they are
“Call Them Brothers” by Regina Spektor (featuring Only Son)

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word
And then that word grew louder and louder
‘Til it was a battle cry
I’ll come back when you call me
No need to say goodbye
Just because everything’s changing
Doesn’t mean it’s never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war
Pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light
You’ll come back when it’s over
No need to say goodbye
You’ll come back when it’s over
No need to say goodbye
Now we’re back to the beginning
It’s just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can’t feel it too
Doesn’t mean that you have to forget
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
‘Til they’re before your eyes
You’ll come back when they call you
No need to say goodbye
You’ll come back when they call you
No need to say goodbye

“I’m Different” 2 Chainz
2 Chainz but I got me a few on
Seriously, how freaking clever?
And I wish a nigga would, like a kitchen cabinet
Get it, because kitchen cabinets are made of wood.
Bitch sit down, you got a bad atti’
Gave her the wrong number and a bad addy
You ain’t going nowhere like a bad navi
“Addy” is for address, and “navi” is for navigation. I like how he used slang for these words so that they almost rhyme.
Then I put a fat rabbit on the Craftmatic
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but I like how it sounds.
I am so high… attic
I am so high like an addict
Hair long, money long
Me and broke niggas we don’t get along
My favorite parts of the song.<33
I only just heard of this 2 Chainz guy yesterday, and my gosh is this guy clever. I’m Different has to be my new favorite song.

I know that Pink Floyd lyrics have come up a few times on here but still, I love these.
Ticking away the moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours
In an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground
In your home town
Waiting for someone or something
To show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

Digging the lyrics from the David Gilmour song ‘There’s No Way Out Of Here’ atm:
(…) There are no boundaries set, the time and yet you waste it still.
So it slips through your hands like grains of sand, you watch it go
There’s no time to be lost, you pay the cost, so get it right.
There’s no way out of here, when you come in you’re in for good.
