I used to live in west Canada and it was great! But my family moved to the United States (to GEORGIA of all places) and I immediately noted the humidity. I live in a small town and I guess we have some fun sometimes. Here, we’re known for our peaches and bolled (yes, that’s how people – not me, I’m not THAT southern – say it around here) peanuts. My brother once said that people only go through Georgia to get to Florida, but I think it’s alright!

Hospitals dont like it when you outstay your welcome and my mother wanted to go home (i think – maybe not actually with all my brothers causing chaos); i didnt even get a say in the matter.

Annadog I didn’t know you were from Michigan! Yooper or troll?
I lived in Ontario my whole life, ten different cities, and three of them have been right on the border, just a river away (St. Mary’s, St. Clair, and Detroit) from your state.

I had heard of yoopers, but not trolls, and I was not aware of people pointing to their hand, as the “mitt” of Michigan. I work as a bartender at a major hotel next to the Seattle airport, and an important part of my job is carrying on conversations with the clientele, who are mostly travelers. Besides all the tourists and business folks, we serve a lot of airline flight crews. And geography (along with sports) is a great “safe” ice-breaking topic. Just the other night, I had a good time laughing it up with a couple from Ypsilanti, Michigan. In the not-to-distant future, I am sure I will meet more Michiganders, and I will be sure to bring up trolls, who (I just learned) live beneath the Mackinac Bridge. And I will ask them to point to their hands to show me their hometowns. Thanks for this information, guys. This is news I can use.
If you are ever visiting Seattle, you might want to check out the Fremont Troll, one of those “under-the-radar” tourist attractions that not everybody knows about. (And, to be fair, one that not everybody cares about, either.) http://fremont.com/about/fremo…..roll-html/

@Mimi It’s cool to see you’re from the same city where they make Gibson acoustic guitars! Really cool!

Hello everyone. As part of the Fab Forum Summer Clean 2014 (too many threads, too many posts) we’re locking this thread.
We won’t be merging this thread with another, because the chronology will probably get confusing. However, if you want to talk about where you come from please consider the Introduce yourself to the forum! thread instead.
