a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 Holy moly @WeepingAtlasCedars, I had no idea that Rod ever performed a Petty song. It’s been fun having new music to listen to the last few weeks. I’m assuming that’s it, as the release of the box is coming later this month.

* I have a funny story about Rod live and a Paul song, but it involves Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds so probably belongs in a different thread.

* My first fiddy of the month thank you. john-lennon-salute_gif

Gonna listen to this on repeat because there’s a beautiful full harvest moon rising tonight.

Hey, I only discovered this wonderful song for myself just the other day and listened to it several times over! ahdn_george_08 It has such a beautiful and drifting atmosphere about it. My only critique if I had to give one is that the riff sounds a little too close to Walk Right Back by The Everly Bros… ahdn_paul_02

I’ve slowly been dipping into Neil’s work recently but probably have started with two of the most bizarre but pretty cool places in his discography – his super psychedelic and fuzzy ’68 solo debut followed by 1983’s Everybody’s Rocking, his homage album to 50s rock and roll/doo wop which I wanted to check out of curiosity (I love Wonderin’!). I’ll report back at some point in the future on what albums I’ll get to next if anyone who has stuck through this post is interested lol

I know @Beatlebug, I just have the most affection for the Zepplin thread so I think all English bands have (had) a home there. I still think your ranking of the last song on each LP could be the basis of a cool book.

Haha I just googled “harvest moon” and that came up and I l o v e it… it’s a song I’ve needed but only just found, I think. Mood-wise, it also kinda reminds me of one of my all-time favorites, “The Blue” by David Gilmour. heartheartheart

Fistful of Mercy – As I Call You Down

I HIGHLY recommend this. Excellent album, top-notch, and I say this without my bias for Dhani Harrison having an influence because he’s really not that prominent on it, it’s just a damn solid album. The harmonies are lush and wild and the acoustic instrumentation is so clean and full and the songwriting is quality.

Harvest Moon is great, as is the album. The version from Unplugged is phenomenal. Overall, Harvest is a better album any day of the week.

I’m very happy to see all the love for “Harvest Moon” as of late. While I’ve not heard the whole album myself (I’ll fix that eventually), I’ve always loved the song, and hearing it on the radio is always a treat (I think I heard it just this last Saturday, even). Also, in general, it makes me glad to see people enjoying some of the best of what Canada has to offer. a-hard-days-night-john-1

Released 13 years ago yesterday but I feel more in the mood for it today bc it’s rainy and I’m in a mood for a bout of partially self-inflicted atmospheric Radiohead-induced melancholy study session:

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

It’s Paul Simon’s birthday so I have listened to my beloved Graceland and now I am listening to Hearts And Bones and it is SOOOO GOOOD OMG. The more I listen to his stuff, the more my brain is blown by his songwriting excellence a-hard-days-night-paul-7a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

Graceland is travelling music, while Hearts And Bones is contemplative evening possibly subtropical drawing music (like sipping wine). I appreciate both moods exquisitely. heart

Been digging into Prince’s discography the past few days, particularly Sign O The Times, which is a pretty amazing album the whole way through. The title track, ‘Starfish and Coffee’, ‘Slow Love’ and ‘The Cross’ in particular are all fantastic.
