Just discovered this really neat London based 80s jazz-pop band. Great, expressive vocals, and cool instrumentals with a Latin tinge.

Added to my hard drive today an old (November 1998) 4AD compilation given away as the cover-mounted free CD with that month's issue of Uncut.
So long since I've listened, and what a fecking amazing treat for the ears it is. Beautifully compiled.
On my third play-through... and getting very near the end (again)...
Was Kristin Hersh, Michael Stipe, and a cello - dancing with each other; driving circles; weaving this way and that...
Am, the wonderful Dead Can Dance with the beautiful American Dreaming...
Next, the Hope Blister doing the Cranes, an Ivo-vanity project, but feck me if it isn't one of the most beautifully heartbreaking recordings I have ever heard...
Probably gonna have to do some Rough Trade and drop in...
...I'm feeling the itch.

Beggars Banquet -- The Rolling Stones (1968)
Their best, sez me
Listening to this, the ultimate jazz-RAWK showstopper, largely based on Miles' "What I Say", with McLaughlin doing his best Coltrane sheets-of-sound shredding, particularly in the free-time duetting with Billy Cobham. Amazing quintet!

Lou Reed - 'Hangin' Round'
I'd previously dismissed Lou's Transformer as 'Walk on the Wild Side', 'Perfect Day' and 'Satellite of Love' with a bunch of throwaway, but I'm getting to appreciate some of the other numbers a bit more. I also really like 'Make Up' and 'Goodnight Ladies'.

Syd, Roger, Richard, Nick, and David - An Evolving Pink Floyd Playlist
Honestly Pink Floyd's social media game is on point. They really do a good job with their community posts and such, they're always interesting, often cool historical tidbits, and all in all it feels quite a lot more personal than a lot of old bands' social media. Like it's a bunch of Pink Floyd nerds who scored the best job ever, but also very professional.
I've always had a deep respect and I mean that most sincerely...

Maybe under other circumstances I'd join a Pink Floyd forum or something but I barely have energy to keep track of this one. Besides, when it comes to the Beatles, I know the songs and history a lot better, with Floyd I'd just feel ignorant and I'm too lazy to catch up

Aside from some communities I'm in on Facebook and Discord, other music forums on the web don't seem to be nearly up to the standard of this one, both in the design of the website and the community. Plus we do a fair bit of non-Beatles musical discussion to scratch that particular itch. This is the place to be
I've been on a huge Lou Reed/Velvet Underground kick the last couple of days, particular the first two Velvets albums. Peak music imo: the perfect fusion of rock n roll, the avant-garde and the dark/sinister/sexy subject matter. I could listen to (and rave about) this song for days.
