I am listening to the first (and so far only) Palms record.

And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

On repeat. Just re-learnt it earlier too (it’s got weird chords). I’ve not got a problem a-hard-days-night-paul-7

I’ve been really getting into Hank Williams Jr.’s early pre-accident music recently. This one is a particular favourite of mine I’ve listened to repeatedly the last few days. Lyrics originally written by Hank Sr. and music arranged by Hank Jr.!

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I’m at a concert right now with my parents… it’s instrumental jazz I’ve never heard before so I don’t exactly know what I’m listening to.

I guess the fact that I’m on BeatlesBible right now shows my interest in jazz… but I’m having a good time.

Indeed, John’s dislike for jazz does frustrate me somewhat, but I will assume that it was because he hadn’t heard the best stuff yet.

I’m on a big Arcade Fire kick lately, so I’m making my way through their albums. My favourite song has to be Wake Up, it’s such a cathartic and beautiful song:

Children don’t grow up
Our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up
We’re just a million little gods causing rain storms
Turning every good thing to rust
I guess we’ll just have to adjust

I thought he had no kick against modern jazz? 😉

I really like the guitar work in it, and Starman is cool, but this isn’t a first-ear masterpiece for me. I’ll revisit it soon.

It wasn’t a first-ear masterpiece for me either– the brilliance didn’t hit till the second listen. It’ll come. Don’t worry. a-hard-days-night-george-9

There’s a staaaaarrrrmaaaaaannnnn waiting in the sky a-hard-days-night-george-9

I just listened to this 1975 Miles live album, Agharta. It’s…. pretty intense. At times even more so than Dark Magus, which I thought couldn’t be topped in that regard, with a seven piece lineup as good as any Miles brought together post-Kind of Blue. I enjoyed it a lot, but now it’s time for something more relaxed, so I’m going for Sketches of Spain.
