What’s your favourite song off that album?
(@Expert Textpert)

Listening to Anthology 1 , ahdn_paul_01 SO BORING.

I made a playlist of just the non cannon Anthology 1 -3 songs and it is quite enjoyable to listen to.

I also did the same with Live At The BBC 1-3 (LATBBC 3 is what I refer to Bootlegs 1963 as)

Blood on the Rooftops.

That’s a good one (coincidentally my mom’s fave off W&W.) I have 3 I can’t delineate between, One For The Vine/Eleventh Earl Of Mar/Blood On The Rooftops.

(These lyrics from Blood on The Rooftops…
Let’s skip the news, boy (I’ll make some tea)
The arabs and the jews, boy (too much for me)
They get me confused, boy (puts me off to sleep)…

… is my favourite, especially accompanied with the music.)

BoT, got off the Anthology train, and am now listening to Labi Siffre.

Blood on the Rooftops was written by Phil Collins and Steve Hackett.

Awesome. You were recently listening to all of the albums you hadn’t heard, right? (At least I think you were). What are your thoughts?

I started with And Then There Were Three. Which is brilliant and as good or better than W&W. But Duke was kinda dissapointing, I couldn’t really get into it. Now, I’m right in the middle of Abacab and it’s pretty good.

Other than that, their career was definitely at its peak in the later 70’s, but they still had some gems to offer after that period.
(Of course someone who was introduced by Invisible Touch might find their earlier stuff kinda hard to swallow. A perception thing, I think).

I love And Then There Were Three. I like the western theme of some of the songs.

I love Duke, though, too. Man of Our Times is one of my favorites.

Apart from The Brazilian and Fading Lights, I think Dodo/Lurker from Abacab is their last great prog moment.

I became a fan around 1983, and I was listening to bands like Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes and Jethro Tull at that time, so I was able to appreciate both worlds of Genesis.

The music is so intense it really gets under my skin.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

I’ve finished George’s Apple albums. Now onto the Dark Horse ones.

As of this moment I’m listening to The Rutles, the album by the band, on vinyl.

You crazy, silly girl – that song’s great! heart (What’s wrong with a little good old-fashioned 1960s sexism?)
