Just had coffee with a really evil iced donut – very nice.  Good thing I have taken up tennis again!

Ah! My Chinese has just arrived. Crab Meat & Sweetcorn Soup. House Special Foo Yung. House Special Egg Fried Rice. Salt & Pepper Squid. The House Special Egg Fried Rice will be chucked in the fridge when it’s cooled down, along with any of the squid that doesn’t get wolfed tonight. Soup and Foo Yung tonight, and some squid. Egg Fried Rice chucked in the wok tomorrow night to heat up, along with whatever squid is left.

And, of course, there’s free Prawn Crackers!

Nice one.  We had Chinese last night for my son’s belated birthday dinner (first night since the day when my wife was not working and my 2 daughters could make it over).  It was brilliant – 7 different dishes plus the rice and crackers.

Sorry MMM – Raw carrots ARE very nice :)

Feeling a bit bloated! Their House Specials are so good, and looking forward to the House Special Egg Fried Rice tonight (it’s after three in the morning for me here). It’s huge! Egg fried rice, mixed meats (chicken, beef, char siu pork, squid, 2 king prawns!), and mixed vegetables. It’s always good to find a good Chinese!

I’ve never liked chinese. Maybe it’s because there’s no decent ones round here (Birmingham is known more for its Indian curries), but it just tastes like grease to me. And I don’t like the mix of sweet and sour – who came up with that one?

Hum, when peanut butter meets chocolate…guess we need to bring a Reese’s peanut butter cup into the conversation. Perhaps I’ll have one today.

With no prompting whatsoever, hubby bought some Reese’s during our pit stop on the way to Tulsa. He let me have half a cup. That’s all I wanted.

Here’s my peanut butter story if you haven’t read it and are in the least bit interested.

Pb&j is kind of my go to food right now when I don’t feel like cooking anything or I’m just little bit hungry.

All this talk of peanut butter made me get some yesterday, and I’m just trying it now for the first time. I don’t know why but I expected it to be sweeter. Nice, though. I’ve got it with a chopped banana. Very yummy.

Have got a piece of lamb and potatoes in the oven and about to attempt making Yorkshire puddings for the first time. Should be fun.

I’ve never tried peanut butter. Is that strange?

Since you asked that question, I have to tell this story. I didn’t eat peanut butter growing up. When I was 20, I babysat this little 3-year-old boy who loved peanut butter and jelly mixed together in bowl. One day he asked me, “Miss Cathy, why don’t you eat peanut butter?” I said, “Because I don’t like it.” He said, “But Jesus wants you to like peanut butter.” For about a year I couldn’t eat enough of the stuff. I can eat it a little bit now, but it isn’t something I crave like I did that year.

Just read this after Ahhh Girl linked to it. LOL, that sounds like a story out of South Park.

I don’t know when peanut butter became internationally available, but when I was a 11/12, I went on an exchange program to France, and we were told to bring, among other things, peanut butter for our hosts because French kids didn’t have it. They were profoundly unimpressed, lol.

Elvis Presley liked peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Being from the southern part of the US, he liked them fried.

My grandmother liked them (not fried) and so did her dog.

Fried? Gross. I’ve had toasted bread with peanut butter, but that is as far as I am going.

The “frying” part is a bit like making a grilled cheese sandwich. Elvis used bacon fat instead of butter.

It still doesn’t sound good. Grilled cheese is one thing, but grilled peanut butter and banana is another. ahdn_paul_01

Not only did Elvis fry his in bacon fat, his recipe often included several rashers of crispy bacon.
