Okay, as the person who started this intended-to-be jokey conversation that’s blown-up, there was no peacock, no peacock was harmed during this conversation.

I began a joke conversation, an obviously joke conversation, and one person – maybe two in the opinion of those who object – gave an extreme description of meat preparation that I doubt they would eat if served with it.

A laugh was being had. Lots of clues were given.

Conversations and subjects are rarely banned on this forum. I don’t doubt that this as a subject won’t be banned.

It is always a sad thing when someone requests a book be burned because they’re troubled by things it says.

If I believe, as I do, that meat is not unethical but should be raised ethically, how can I explore publicly my problems with unethical treatment if you want us not tp discuss awkward things openly but hide them in PMs?

You only explore both sides of an argument by exposing them both fully.

You always have the ability not to continue reading a thread if you don’t like the conversation, but that doesn’t make the conversation wrong, or one that should be restricted to PMs…

You were my “maybe 2”, @Starr Shine?, as you can never speak for someone else opinions.

It was no problem with me.

The other post I don’t really like, not a great fan, but nor do I view it as how he’d prefer his meat butchered.

Nothing in the conversation that I consider breaks forum rules, though parts may be distasteful to some forum members, they would not involve lawbreaking in the location they been posted from… and that’s the discussion to be had.

How do you change things, @The Hole Got Fixed, by asking that the things you want to see not happening not discussed?

The world, much of the time, ain’t great. It don’t get any better by asking people to go in the corner and whisper, far better to have it declaimed from a stage to see the player go down in a hail of tomatoes.

Silencing public discourse is always bad, opposing it with discourse, debate, and laws to defeat never is…
