Hey Ya’ll

Monday: It was deep clean Monday, which is where we deep clean the house. We did that pretty much all day. Then we went to the YSA activity.

Tuesday: We helped this lady clean out her fridge. Then we had interviews with President. After that the Zone leaders and we went on a blitz where we split up and try to find as many new investigators as possible. We ended up finding 4 new investigators.

Wednesday: We had district meeting where we played Preach My Gospel(the book that we use to help us teach) trivia. After that we went around and tried to go contact some people. In the evening we had a lesson with this investigator that we’ve been teaching. The kid that we went to help pound posts at his ranch a few weeks ago was there as well.

Thursday: We went and did service at the Salvation Army and The food bank as usual. We had a lesson planned in the evening, but it fell through at the last minute. In the evening we sat in for institute.

Friday: We helped the food bank collect food in front of Walmart. We collected a decent amount of food. Then we had a lesson with this one lady one last time(for me). Then we went and tried to contact some investigators in the area book, especially the dropped ones.

Saturday: We helped the food bank collect food in front of Ridley’s. Then we sent the rest of the day contacting more dropped investigators.

Sunday: In the morning I found out that I am getting transfered to the other Zone in Wyoming. I am in the Wyoming East Zone, and I am transferring to the Wyoming West Zone. I’ll be serving in Lovell for the next 6-36 weeks. Hopefully there is snow there, because it’s already November and I’ve only seen like 1 inch of snow that’s already melted away this week. I think I’m destined to never see real snow on this mission. It’s super ironic, I know. Anyway, we went to church for the last time here in Sheridan(For me). I said goodbye to a lot of the people I met here in this transfer and the last. Then I had the usual Sunday dinner with the family that usually feeds us on Sunday.

It’s sad to say goodbye to Sheridan, but I’m excited to see what adventures await me in Lovell. I’ve been out here for 3 months already, even though it doesn’t seem like that long, and I’ve already had so many amazing experiences that I wouldn’t trade for a butcher cover. It’s been hard, but it’s been worth it. I hope you all have a wonderful week. I love you all very much and I hope to hear from some of you soon.

Peace and Love,

William Shears Campbell

Hey Everyone,

It’s a brand new transfer!!

Monday: I spent most of the day packing and emailing. In the evening we went to the YSA activity. I said some goodbyes to the people I met in the last 12 weeks.

Tuesday: I packed everything up. We had a quick lesson/goodbye with the young couple we tight a few times. Then I went to my very last dinner in Sheridan and I was off to the church, and then off to Billings. I stayed the night with this pair of Elders. One has been out for like 6 months, and the other just finished his first transfer. The one that has been out for 6 months was getting transfered.

Wednesday: We woke up bright and early at 4:20 to bring the elder that was getting transfered over to the mission home by 5:30. Then I spent the day in Billings with the other Elder. We went around and tracted out some houses and passed out some Books Of Mormon. Then in the evening I was off to Lovell. It was like my first day again, I didn’t know wanton in the transfer van. When we got to Lovell, I met my new companion. My first trainer was companions with him in his first transfer in Sheridan. I got to see out new living quarters. We live in the basement of a member’s home. There was a bit of an accident where the other set of Elders in Lovell live last week, so they not temporarily live with us.

Thursday: So we cover 5 wards in this new area. The other set of elders cover the other 3 wards in the district. We helped a lady put up some Christmas lights on her house in the morning, and she fed us lunch. Then we went to the library and helped move some boxes of books into a storage building. We had a lesson with this recent convert in the late afternoon. Then in the evening we went and helped work the consessons at a theater where they were putting on A Christmas Carol. My companion and I helped out with the popcorn. It was very fast paced, but fun. It was nice little community event.

Friday: We went to seminary in the morning to encourage the seminary students to invite their friends to church activities. In the evening we went to a lesson with a part member family. Then we went and attempted to contact some people.

Saturday: We went to a lesson with an investigator that we contacted the previous night into he morning. During the day we went over to this member’s house to help him move some wood. Then in the evening we walked down the main street looking for people to talk to.

Sunday: So Sunday we only go to 1 or 2 sacrament meetings. The rest of the day is filled with ward councils. We 3 ward councils today. In the evening we had 2 lessons. One was with a family that has a daughter that just got baptized and the other one wants to get baptized when she turns 8 in August. The parents aren’t members though. The other family is an inactive family that wants to come back to the church. We read part to the Book of Mormon with them.

That’s all for this week. I hope you all are doing well in your daily affairs. keep it cool.

I forgot to share this last week, but last week I found a pack of Necco Wafers, and it reminded me of @Necko.

Hey Yall!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Monday: We spent the morning emailing, then we went hiking in this canyon place. It was pretty fun! In the evening we had Family Home Evening with this one family.

Tuesday: We went out and contacted some people in the area book. In the evening in we talked to the teachers or the 14-15 year olds in Byran about what it’s like to be a missionary. In the evening we helped out with the concessions for the play, A Christmas Carol. My companion and I got there later so we helped mainly with the cleanup.

Wednesday: We had district meeting in the morning. In the afternoon we had a couple lessons and worked to contact a few people.

Thursday: Thanksgiving! We had dinner at like 1:30, which is apperently normal for a Thanksgiving dinner. After our first dinner we went over to a few members houses to find service we could do for them.

Friday: We got up early to go to a cattledrive. There were quite a few innactive members there. It was also a pretty neat experience. We had a couple lessons in the evening.

Saturday: We worked all day to contact people. It was actually pretty successful. We were able to contact a ton of people in Byran that we’ve had on a list for a while apperently.

Sunday: We only went to 2 council meetings today and then 2 sacrament meetings. In one of the wards there was a recently returned missionary that served in Las Vegas. He actually served around where I live and so I knew a few people that he encountered on the mission. In his talk he told a story about this person who converted to the church, and I knew who that person was.

I hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for each and every one of you, as well as anyone else who has been an influence in my life. You all are awesome!

Have a wonderful week!

William Shears Campbell

So this week at one of the dinners they had that Alexa thing from Amazon, where you talk to it and it does stuff. We were goofing around with it, and then we were having it play songs. I had it play Strawberry Fields Forever , and then my companion had it play Birthday , since his birthday is coming up this week.

Here’s a couple additives to the weekly first there are a couple of pictures attached.

The first is of this map we found, and Sheridan(my last area), and Casper are the only cities on Wyoming. Sheridan isn’t that big of a city, so we thought it was cool that it was on there.

The second one is of a truck we found that was tipped over on the side of the road.

The third is of a quote from John Lennon ‘s “Grow Old With Me ” that was on this member’s wall. They didn’t even know that is was from a John Lennon song.

The second additive is this short film that I’ve discovered on LDS.org. It’s an older film and we are not sure of its purpose. I think it’s supposed to encourage the youth to go on dates. It’s called The Phone Call, and it’s definitely a favorite among the missionaries.

ahdn_ringo_09He couldn’t get it, so I revealed it to him. It required a lot more knowledge of pastries than of The Beatles. As soon as I said what Sacher Torte is it was clear.

Hey Everybody,

Well Christmastime is here again. It ain’t been ’round since… last year. That means it’s time for giving. Last year the church had the Light the Word initiative, and this year they have it again. I love it, because anyone can do it.

It’s an advent calendar that has a scripture, and ideas for acts of service for each day leading up to Christmas. I encourage you all to check it out and help light the world this Christmastime.

Here is the calendar: https://www.mormon.org/christm…..s-calendar

There is more information and ideas for service at mormon.org

I’ll be sharing what service I perform each day, and I’d love to hear about some of what you do this season to light the world. Remember it doesn’t have to be something big, it can be small. If a lot of us do small things, it can become a big thing.

Now back to your normally scheduled weekly.

I’ve also officially been out 4 months.

Monday: We emailed in the apartment for a bit, then we headed down to Cody to meet the other elders in the zone. We played basketball a bit and then came back for dinner.

Tuesday: In the morning my companion had to go to Cody for medical reasons(don’t worry, it wasn’t anything big, he’s fine). We did exchanges, so he went to Cody with the district leader, and I stayed in Lovell with the district leader’s companion. We went and helped this one lady put some stuff into a storage unit. After my companion came back, we helped one of our ward mission leaders put up his Christmas lights outside. In the evening in we had a lesson with the girl we taught last Wednesday. She is excited to get baptised. She has all of the details of the baptism planned out.

Wednesday: We had district meeting in the morning. Then we helped that lady again move some stuff into a trailer. Later that day we went to go visit this person that my companion had been able to meet with back in Sheridan, but now he lives here.

Thursday: We helped this family move in. They had some stuff to unload in a trailer, and we helped them unload it. There were quite a few people there, so it went pretty fast. We spent the rest of the day contacting some less actives from this list we had. In the evening we played volleyball with some less active members.

And Light The World Begins!

Day 1: “Freely ye have received, freely give.” – Matthew 10:8
This day’s theme is “freely giving”. You can give a physical gift to someone, but you can also give them service, or your time.
Friday: We went to Seminary, and invited the students to participate in the Light the World challenge. Later we went to help the same family we helped yesterday. Then in the evening we gave more service by helping run the conssessions at the performance of A Christmas Carol. After that we were able to watch the show this time.

Day 2: “I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink.” – Matthew 25:35
This days theme is helping people who are thirsty receive drink, both physically and spiritually.
Saturday: It was my companion’s 20th birthday today. It was also my 20 months left on my mission day. We duelly celebrated this day. The other Lovell elders made my companion a birthday cake. It was a vegetable cake, but probably not quite what you’d expect. It was a bunch of vegetables in the cake platter. While they made the cake, we went out and gave people spiritual drink by inviting them to the ward Christmas party. We also shared the Light the World challenge with this less active family. When we went to get gas for the car, I bought my companion a drink at the Good 2 Go.

Day 3: “Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.” – Matthew 12:12
This day’s theme is using your talents and your free time on Sunday to help others.
Sunday: We went to 3 ward councils today. Before sacrament, my companion and I used our sick door holding skills to hold the door for the people coming in. After church we watched the annual Christmas devotional that the church holds.

I encourage you all to look for opportunities to serve others around you. I know that as you do that it will start to make your day brighter.

I love you all!

William Shears Campbell

Hey All,

It’s beginning to look a little bit like Christmas

It’s also the last week of the transfer. We will find out if I leave or stay next week. If you think that this transfer came a little quicker than the others, you’d be right, becuse it was only a 5 week transfer. It had something to do with getting the missionaries out of the MTC before Christmas. Anyway that means that next transfer will be a 7 week transfer.

We’ve been working on doing Light the World this week. If you have not checked out the light the world campaign, I encourage you to do so: https://www.mormon.org

It’s so nice to do service for others, especially during the Christmas season.

Day 4: “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” – Matthew 22:39
We should love our neighbors, weather they are next door or on the other side of the world.
Monday: We went to Cody to do some grocery shopping and visit the other Elders. I paid for part of one of the elder’s lunch. Then in the evening we were able to visit a couple of families and do family home evening.

Day 5: “Honour thy father and mother.” – Matthew 15:4
We should honor our parents, both earthly and heavenly. They have given us so much.
Tuesday: During the day we did a bit of contacting. Later we helped this one guy split some wood. I was the only one without gloves, and I was able to get away without 1 splinter. In the evening I wrote my parents a letter thanking them for all they do for me.

Day 6: “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” – Matthew 7:1
We should not judge others becuse none of us are perfect.
Wednesday: In the morning we helped a member move some metal sheets to his basement. After that we went to district meeting. The Zone leaders came to do exchanges with the other Lovell Elders. During lunch one of the zone leaders had us pick our least favorite companion and say 2 good things about them. We spent the rest of the day contacting. In the evening we went to one of our 5 ward’s Christmas parties. There was food, and the primary sang. Then they had a live nativity outside afterward. I got kissed by a camel.

Day 7: “Suffer the little children to come unto me.” – Mark 10:14
It’s important to give our children, or younger siblings our time to show them we care.
Thursday: We went to visit a recent convert and share a message with her. At dinner time, the family had lots of little children and we made sure to acknowledge them and answer questions they asked us.

Day 8: “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.”—Matthew 5:44
We all have different opinions or beliefs, but that’s no reason to fight with one another.
Friday: We don’t really have any “enemies” in this area, but we tried our best to respect others. In the morning we went to Seminary and shared a message about Light the World again. We had them share their experiences with light the world with us. Then we helped one of our ward mission leaders move some stuff. In the evening we had a lesson with a part member family.

Day 9: “I was sick, and ye visited me.” – Matthew 25:36
We should take time to visit those who are ill, because be it can get lonely when your are sick.
Saturday: We helped a member move this wood board who has leg problems and couldn’t move it himself. Then later on in the day we went and visited an investigator of ours that is in the care center.

Day 10: “Search the scriptures.” – John 5:39
This day is about studying and sharing the scriptures.
Sunday: We went to 1 ward council meeting and them 3 sacrament meetings. It kinda reminded me of life back in Sheridan. In the evening we visited a couple of families and shared some scriptures with them.

That’s about it for this week. Share with me how you’ve served others this week. I’d love to hear about what you all have done.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and a great Christmas season

Peace and Love

William Shears Campbell

Okay so I have a question for @Beatlebug . If I’m not mistaken she lives in North Carolina. One of the Elder’s dad served his mission in North Carolina, and one time he had cow intestine. Apperently it smelled pretty bad, which makes sense considering what the intestine produces. I just wondered if she knew anyone who eats cow intestine, and if that’s like some North Carolinan thing.

Anyway I was just curious. That’s about it for this week. I hope you all are having just a fab Christmastime over on the BB. Is anyone doing anything fun for the holidays?

Oh yeah one more thing, I got curious the other day on whether you ended up making a separate thread for my weeklies or whether they are just posted in the in my life thread.

Well take care, and have a wonderful Christmas.

Yeah, no; a-hard-days-night-paul-7 although I’ve lived all my life in this glorious part of the country and eaten all sorts of strange, sometimes internally-related things, I’ve never been (un?)fortunate enough to try chitlins. Nor has anyone I know, to my knowledge; I live in a not-so-rural part of the state, so the people in my circles are more likely to eat sushi than cow intestines. a-hard-days-night-paul-7

The strange and sometimes organy things I’ve eaten have had more to do with my mother’s cultural heritage than my father’s; he’s pretty straightforward about food, although he’ll try most anything once. As will I. Livermush? Tripe pho?? NOMNOM! a-hard-days-night-john-6

Also, you may inform WSC that sweet potatoes are much more a North Carolina thing than chitlins, which are more generally Southern. Livermush is also a niche food, which is really only done in the western part of the state (the best part, in my opinion a-hard-days-night-george-10).

Christmastime is here again, ain’t been ’round since you know when. The next weekly I send will be on December 26th. Since Christmas is on Monday, they decided to push preperation day to Tuesday.

Transfer newz! I’m staying along with the rest of my district and my zone except for a sister that is going home and 2 elders that are getting transfered.

So this week’s happenings

Day 11: “I was a stranger, and ye took me in.” – Matthew 25:35
We find it easy to serve and show kindness to people we already know and love. But we don’t fully follow the Savior’s example until we extend that same kindness to people we don’t know.
Monday: Preperation day. We went over with some members to go cut down a Christmas tree. We took it back and set it up in our basement that we live in. We had to trim it a bit due to the low ceiling.

Day 12: “Blessed are they that mourn.” – Matthew 5:4
Crushing burdens and tragic losses can nearly overwhelm people at times. To show Christlike compassion, we should comfort those who mourn, helping to lift their heavy hearts.
Tuesday: We mainly went around and contacted some people. In the evening we went on splits in Cowley with our elders quorum president. We went around and invited a bunch of people to the Christmas party for the ward.

Day 13: “All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them.” – Matthew 7:12
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This is called the Golden Rule, and if everyone followed it, the world would be a better place.
Wednesday: We had zone conference for most of the day. In the evening we had 3 ward Christmas parties that all started at the same time. We started with the Lovell 1st party, then we hopped to the Cowley 2nd party, then we booked it over to the Byran party only to find that it ended. We helped them clean up though. 2/3 parties isn’t too bad.

Day 14: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” – Matthew 6:21
There’s nothing wrong with having possessions as long as we don’t lose sight of more important things. When we focus on what really matters and on serving others, we can find real happiness.
Thursday: We got some people to volunteer to work at this nativity display that we are putting in the cultural center at the stake center on Sunday. people are bringing their nativity sets and displaying them. In the evening we went to our fifth and final Christmas party for the season.

Day 15: “Blessed are the merciful.” – Matthew 5:7
Jesus’s sacrifice on our behalf was the greatest example of mercy. We can follow His example by extending mercy and compassion to others wherever we can.
Friday: We went to Seminary in the morning and shared light the world some more. They have a tree in there that they hang a star on every time they light the world, and the tree was looking pretty full. In the evening we went to a lesson with a part member family.

Day 16: “Forgive men their trespasses.” – Matthew 6:14
Allowing anger or resentment to fester will never lead to happiness. We must make amends with people before bitterness destroys our important relationships.
Saturday: It snowed! Hopefully it sticks this time. We contacted people during the day. We were able to meet with this investigator of ours in the afternoon. He said he doesn’t think the snow will stick. In the evening we went to this get together in Byran called Friends of Byran. There were quite a few less actives and non members there. In the evening in we set up tables for the nativity display for Sunday

Day 17: :“Ye shall meet together oft.”—3 Nephi 18:22
The Lord commanded that His followers should meet together often to strengthen one another. This applies not only to church congregations but also to families and communities.
Sunday: The snow is still here but it looks a bit weaker. My companion and I gave talks in sacrament meeting in Byran. We went to the Lovell 1st ward council and went to the Lovell 1st ward sacrament meeting. After that there was a choir concert that we went to at the stake center. Lots of people brought nativities to display for our nativity showcase thing.

I hope you all have wonderful Christmastime this upcoming week, and a merry new year.

Peace and Love

Hey Ya’ll,

I hope everyone had an absolutely wonderful Christmastime.

Day 18: “Forgive men their trespasses.”—Matthew 6:14
Allowing anger or resentment to fester will never lead to happiness. We must make amends with people before bitterness destroys our important relationships.
Monday: We went to Cody and got lunch, then we hung out with the other elders for a bit. We said goodbye to the 2 elders that were leaving. In the evening we went to Family Home Evening with a less active family.

Day 19: “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad.”—Matthew 5:12
God loves us and wants us to be happy. We have many reasons to be happy, even if we don’t realize all of them. One way we find joy is by helping others feel joy.
Tuesday: We had corrolation wit our Lovell 1st ward mission leader. After that we went out and attempted to contact some people we didn’t know in the area book. We made sure to have a good attitude even if our contact attempts were not successful, and most of them were. It seems that no one was home.

Day 20: “A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”—Luke 12:15
Sometimes possessions distract us from appreciating the most important things in life. By eliminating these distractions, we can lead a more fulfilling life.
Wednesday: We did a lot of contacting in the morning and afternoon. We were a little more successful than the previous day. In the evening we were able to greet the missionaries entering the area.

Day 21: “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat.”—Matthew 25:35
A person can experience spiritual hunger as well as physical hunger. As Jesus did, we can offer people both kinds of nourishment.
Thursday: We spent much of the day moving this family. There was a lot of stuff to pack up, but as the day went on more people came to help. At lunchtime I made lunch for my companion, and myself. In the afternoon we did more contacting from the areabook.

Day 22: Jesus taught:“That which ye have seen me do even that shall ye do.”—3 Nephi 27:21
No one else has provided a better pattern for living than Jesus Christ. As we seek to emulate Him, we can improve our own lives and the lives of people around us.
Friday: In the morning we went to the care center and helped out with this thing that they were putting on where the elderly got to go sit by Santa and get a few gifts. Later on we had a lesson with an investigator in Lovell 1st ward. We were able to share a scripture with him and visit with him a bit. I the evening we had another lesson with a less active that my companion knew when he was in Sheridan.

Day 23: “I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”—Matthew 25:36
Some prisons are literal, physical institutions, but other “prisons” include physical and mental afflictions, and addictions. Reach out to those who are feeling trapped and let them know they’re not alone.
Saturday: We had a lesson with an investigator in Lovell 4th ward. After that we did some more contacting. It was actually pretty successful. In the evening we visited an investigator of ours that is in the care center. He had read some of the Book Of Mormon since we last visited him, so we discussed that a bit.

Day 24: “Ye must watch and pray always.”—3 Nephi 18:15
Prayer is the simple communication between God the Father and His beloved children. God has promised to answer the prayers of those who humbly ask.
Sunday: We went to the 2 sacrament meetings in Cowley since we aren’t usually able to attend those. It was nice to hear the musical numbers. In the evening we went to 2 dinners with member families.

Day 25: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”—Matthew 5:16
Jesus is the Light of the World, but every person can shine his or her own light into the world. Follow Christ’s example and be a light in the lives of those around you this Christmas season and all year long.
Monday(again): Christmas Day! We opened our packages that were got from our families back home in the morning. Then we went to Byran to the bishop’s house for breakfast. After that we were able to call our families. In the evening we went to 2 dinners. One in Cowley and one in Lovell.

Light the world may be over today, but I hope we can all continue to have Christmas spirit into the next year. Maybe not all the Christmas music and holiday decorations, but the love and service that we display at this time of the year. Everywhere it’s Christmas at the end of every year. Hopefully this allows us to end the year on a good note, but also to prepare to start a new and better year. I’m going to try my best to be more Christlike in 2018, and I hope all of you will do your best to do the same.

I love you all and I hope you all have a wonderful last week of 2017. Catch Ya’ll in 2018

Peace and Love

A couple of updates to tack on the end here for the BB:

First I don’t know if I mentioned this before I left, but Father Shears Campbell offered to look for some records while I was out here. He was able to find 3 in the past couple months. They were Billy Joel’s “The Stranger”, George’s “Cloud 9″(Finally), as well as a nice copy of The Eagle’s debut album that can replace the free one I got a while back without a jacket a super scratched up side 2. I don’t have pictures saldly. I should’ve had my family hold them up to the camera during my Skype call with them yesterday so I could get some screenshots.

Second, I bought 2 very large bags of potatoes. They were on sale for 2 bags for $5. Call me crazy, but I think It’s crazier to pass up a deal like that. I probably will share with the other 3 people that live with me as well. Anyway if you have any neat potato recipies, I’d love to try them out.
If you send recipies please don’t send me a link, as I cant open most links on my tablet, which is where I read my emails 99% of the time. Send them as a text in a post, or as a picture.

Pics

1. The Christmas tree in the basement we live in with the gifts from our family.

2. My holiday tie that I wear on all sorts of holidays. I got it from Ireland when I went there almost 3 years ago now. I think @AppleScruffJunior will appreciate it.

3. My 2 bags of potatoes.
