For Warner Bros., aside from his regular characters (Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, etc.), Mel Blanc voiced about 700 incidental, unnamed animal and human characters.

I recently learnt about an incredibly successful songwriting partnership that became acrimonious because one partner thought the others contributions were too whimsical and lightweight and not worthy of his own serious ambitions as an artist. This partner also sided with their unscrupulous business manager when the other partner sued the manager. Sound familiar? No not Lennon & McCartney……it’s Gilbert and Sullivan. I just watched Mike Leigh’s great film Topsey Turvey which incidentally doesn’t cover much of the fall out but I read up on that info.

Quite by chance I came across an interview with Rita Coolidge by Graham Nash and she stated that she wrote a song which was pinched by some Delaney & Bonnie members and then hence ended up being used by Eric Clapton and turned into Layla. She also co-wrote Superstar which was a massive hit for The Carpenters and she received no credit or royalties for these two songs. The interview is here from around 6 minute mark

According to the Guinness Book of Records:

The heaviest baby born to a healthy mother was a boy weighing 10.2 kg (22 lb 8 oz) who was born to Sig. Carmelina Fedele (Italy) at Aversa, Italy in September 1955.

22 lb 8 oz! blue-meanie

If he was a first child, I bet he was an only child!

No way she’d want to risk that again.

They say women forget the pain of childbirth, have some form of amnesia until their water breaks the next time around (“Oh! Now I remember, you barsteward! Didn’t I tell you never again after the last one!”), but you’re not ever gonna forget 22 lb 8 oz!

I’d assume that they needed to do a C-section because if they did a normal vaginal birth with a baby that big the genitals would most likely be torn and mutilated due to the head being bigger than the area it needs to escape, so if they did a typical birth she’d probably be traumatized for life and wouldn’t dare have another child and possibly would be unable to although it is very possible that she had previous children before this giant. By the way, I wonder if this child is some super giant guy who’s like 300 pounds and 7 feet tall or if he’s normal sized.

Smile‘ by David Gilmour (such a lovely song, but I wish I could do the rhythm and slide parts simultaneously)

I learned three things about the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

1. Originally, the walk was to include caricatures of each honoree.

2. Muhammad Ali is the only person in the Hollywood Walk of Fame not to have his star on the ground. This was at his request, as he did not want his name walked on by “people who have no respect for me.”

3. Since 1968, it has been required for the star to attend the unveiling of his/her star. The only person to break this is Barbra Streisand in 1976.

The average number of scalp hair follicles all hair colors considered is 100,000. That said, the average for each varies greatly by hair color. Blonde-haired people have an average of 150,000, redheads have average 90,000, and people with brown and black hair average 100,000 to 110,000.  On an entire adult human body, there are about 5,000,000 hair follicles, though men have a few hundred thousand more than women.
