Thanks for the thoughts thunk folks, the good wishes mean a lot.
I’m optimistic about things, feeling lucky that I’m getting relatively quick treatment given the effect the pandemic’s had on the NHS, and that while I’d prefer Stage I to Stage II, at least it’s not III or IV.

Offline Well, I’m back home as they’ve decided to leave the lump where it is for the time being, keep an eye on it, and see if it can be left until the rectal surgery that comes after the chemo and radiotherapy I’ll be doing on a Thursday for the next couple of months.

Offline Another day of chemo, and the next will see me halfway through. It’s draining. Sleeping around 16 hours a day at the minute. I know I have unanswered PMs and emails that I need to respond to. I promise I will. Just running on depleted energy levels right now.

Offline End of chemo today, hopefully. Tests afterwards, followed by surgery next week or two.
At least the chemo will be out of the way for a bit, even if some is needed after surgery, as its been really draining. Tired of missing stuff because I’ve fallen asleep.
Had a real crap week, which I may talk about elsewhere, but at least things start moving forward today, and I may be able to start staying awake.

Offline Not sure how done it is. There’s still surgery in the next couple of weeks, which could involve me needing a colostomy bag for a while given where the surgery is (basically, my rectum and bumhole) and it needing to be bypassed to prevent infection depending on how invasive the surgery needed turns out to be, with the chance of further chemo also being required after surgery.
Maybe about 60% through treatment, but still nice not to have to think about another week of chemo for a few weeks at least.

Offline Will find out what happens next with the treatment next Tuesday when I have an appointment with my consultant. Hoping it’s a good sign that I haven’t been called in more quickly after they’ve looked at the results they did at the end of chemo (no, “How soon can you in?”).

Offline Well, Tuesday went better than I expected. Consultant’s very happy with my reaction to the chemo. Doesn’t believe surgery will need to be as invasive as originally thought. Have another round of tests this afternoon, a check on how things are a couple of weeks after the end of that round of chemo.
Think surgery may be at the beginning of December, with another round of chemo in January if necessary.
The good thing is it’s all looking pretty good at the moment.

Offline Got the date for surgery yesterday. I go in on the 6th December, with surgery on the 7th. Shouldn’t be needing a colostomy bag unless they discover something unexpected and need to do more than is planned for.

Offline Well, surgery was done and on first inspection went well. I have a day of tests ahead to see how things stand.
Things appear to going as well as would be wanted.
Got back home to a card from AG and Ahhh Mom wishing me well.
