Oh, Mark, you won’t get to hear the remastered Red and Blue albums or the official release of Now & Then.
You aren’t coming back. I’m holding back the tears.

Although I had never gotten the chance to talk to Mark/RN, his presence was defined by the many forum posts attached to his name. Reading all of your kind, sorrowful words has moved me to tears, and I am ever so sorry for all of your losses.
Rest in peace

Horrible, horrible news. He was a one of a kind individual and a kind individual. He is missed. Deepest sympathy to his family and forum family.

Still thinking about Ron. It’s made me appreciate this place more actually, to keep posting and enjoying something he loved and would be doing himself if he could.

I wish I had Sir Paul’s talent to write a “Here Today ” for Mark.
Ron Nasty was probably the most important person in my life that I’ve never met or seen. Ahhh Girl showed me a picture of him recently. Not what I imagined.
Based on my preconceived notions of what someone with encyclopedic knowledge might look like, I pictured him somewhat unkempt in a dark room sitting at a dimly lit desk endlessly correcting mere mortals with their limited knowledge.
Many years ago, when I’d just written Into the Sky, Mark actually read the whole book, and in his inimitable style, immediately pointed out 20 or so typos and little incorrect factoids. A typical comment would have been something like, “The Beatles could not have been in Berlin on June 6th because they played in Stockholm that night. They would have arrived on the 7th.” I was somewhat mortified, but when he told me he really liked the ending, I felt better. I eventually sent him the 2nd edition, at which point he promptly pointed out “errors” he’d missed the first time. Of course, I never checked to see if he was more correct than my sources, but what the heck, I gave him points for perseverance. We did talk a couple of times, so at least I have his voice in my head.
As Ahhh Girl pointed out, I don’t think anyone of us had any idea that he was on the way out. I wonder if he even knew. Could he have been gone in a blink of an eye? It is a shame when you don’t get at a chance at a last goodbye.
“I was only waiting
For a better moment that didn’t come
There never could be a better moment
Than this one” (This One, McCartney)
So for me, I reflect not just on what he did for me but what he did for all of us. And I use this opportunity to tell you all how I much I love this site and love you all.
“If you were here today
Oooo, ooo, ooo, here today”

I haven’t. I just came back to the forum after a lengthy absence. How tragic.

Rest in peace, Mark.
You showed me my way around the forum back when I barely knew a thing about the Beatles. You were practically my mentor back in 2020. I began to cry when I heard you passed away, as you were such an important member of the forum.
I had been absent from the forum for about half a year at this point, and coming back to the news of Mark’s passing really hurt. I never thought I would cry for someone I’ve never seen, but Mark was absolutely instrumental in teaching me about the forum.

It’s been two months and I’m still in shock, so please bear with me as I’ve found it very difficult to find the words.
I loved Mark so, so, so much. Much like AG, Mark and I chatted over Zoom very regularly. We spent so many hours discussing current events, what was happening in our lives, food, and of course, music. I too will so dearly miss his voice, his laugh, all the words and phrases he would use that were so identifiably him, his stories, his advice, and his immense kindness.
He became such an important part of my life; he was one of my closest friends and favourite people. He was so sweet, understanding, nonjudgemental, and willing to lend an ear. His friendship helped get me through some very difficult times, and I am forever grateful that I had the privilege of knowing him.
I keep a Christmas card that he sent me displayed on my bedside table as a sort of memorial; I think about him and feel his absence every day. May he rest in peace.

{hugs} @WeepingAtlasCedars. I was just looking at last year’s Christmas card from him yesterday. I tucked it back into my box of special Christmas cards.
Sunday was Mark’s Beatles Bible Birthday . I’m tearing up as I’m typing this. Do we have a smiley for a hole in your heart that was once filled by a dear friend?

Very much feel the presence of Ron Nasty missing from the forum, especially with a goliath sized Dylan box set recently being released, I know you would be enjoying it immensely and discussing it with all of us.

Same, I encounter his past posts on long-running threads everyday, and always have to re-read what he had to say; and how he said it.

Yeah. It’s still strange coming across old posts of his and being reminded of everything. The forum is certainly not the same and cannot be.
