Difficult answer, and I don't wanna debate about which nation "invented" the stuff. (I'm inclined to say that Detroiters like the Stooges and MC5 did, but I'd have to overlook their debts to the Who/Stones etc.) I'll say American, since it encompasses the Detroit bands as well as the Velvet Underground, plus THEIR descendents who (barely) emerged in mid-70s Ohio, like Pete Ubu and the Bizarros.
Pete's drumming or Stu's bass playing?
One day, a tape-op got a tape on backwards, he went to play it, and it was all "Neeeradno-undowarrroom" and it was "Wow! Sounds Indian!"

Stu's bass playing. It wasn't as critical of a problem as Pete"s lack of drumming skills.

I have no idea about baseball, but I'll pick Astros, as it sounds close to Astrid... *I would put an Astrid smiley here if there was one!*

"Twist And Shout " ftw!
Wizard outfits. One of the coolest things about MMT in particular (and the 1967 Beatles in general) is the eccentric and multicolored apparel they sported, so the wizard robes fit right in, however outlandish. On the contrary, NOBODY has ever looked cool in a white tux, aside from Duke Ellington.

The former. He's just as neurotic but in a less dangerous way, which is funnier in my opinion.
