For the first time since 2008, we actually get a little bit of a refund on our federal taxes instead of having to pay. Woot! We get a refund of a whopping $199. It will go towards house insurance.

Also, I still use ‘to Zig’ occasionally. It usually happens in real life and not on the forum, though.

America = two continents. The US = one country. Therefore, America does not = the US. Canadians and Mexicans and Brazilians and anyone else in North America or South America could legitimately call themselves “American” if they liked, and it would be true. It’s just a pet peeve of mine… doesn’t stop me from using the term, though, because there’s no other way to refer to a US-ian (ew, that sounds horrible, blegh).

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, though. Language evolves, and while the word ‘American’ can, technically, by its original definition, refer to ‘someone from The Americas, north and south,’ it has colloquially meant ‘someone from the USA’ for years and years and years. That’s just what it means, at this point, in common parlance.
Anyway, at the rate folks are crossing the borders, we’ll all be US-Americans afore too long

In the US, the term ‘Yankee’ tends to refer specifically to people from New England/the Northeastern states in general. So it didn’t occur to me as I do not self-identify as a Yankee (being born and raised in the South), but in England (or Australia, or whatever) I would be a Yankee because I’m from the States. It’s relative/contextual.

Why I came: My last eleven emails are from myself.
I knew I was pathetic but I didn’t think it was that bad!
And no, I don’t just randomly email myself for a chat. I send myself assignments and pictures and tyhings so I can access them from both my phone and my computer. Just goes to show how packed my social life is
