Thanks for this discussion. It’s been interesting and helpful.

I’m not sure I want people to share audio recordings anyway, as there are all kinds of copyright infringement issues. I have less of a problem with photo uploads, even though the same rules basically apply.

When I enabled attachments I thought it’d be an easy way for people to upload pics from their hard drives, rather than having to upload to webspace elsewhere etc. However, I didn’t really think it through to the obvious conclusion. The last thing I want is to get my hosting account suspended following a complaint from Apple etc. So I’m going to disable certain types of files, probably just leaving gifs and jpgs allowed.

OK. Now image attachments should embed automatically, but the download option has been disabled. I didn’t even know that could be done till I dug around in the settings pages.

I’ve also limited the uploads just to images (jpg, gif or png). Moderators should be able to upload more if necessary (documents, audio files etc).

Makes sense, Joe. What with youtube and the other music sites out there i’m sure that if folks want to share a song they almost certainly find it (tho not always). And its far more likely a record company will come after you over music sharing than with photo’s.

Dublin. @AppleScruffJunior  This story caught my eye since I had an Irish geography lesson this morning.

Nice one! Julian’s got a showing of his documentary  at a Dingle festival in Kerry (down south) won’t be going to it though.

Really, Irish geography? Cool, although Ireland is just a bunch of rock some nice grass and friendly sheep baaaa…

@C.R.A. Joe and Ron Nasty are in the process of getting the rules all sorted out. They should have the official guidelines out by the end of the week. If not, perhaps they will have it hammered out by the beginning of next week.

EDIT:Joe and Ron Nasty’s conversation about getting the rules hammered out starts here and goes for 2 more posts.

Ah, I see mmm has responded to. apple01

@C.R.A. Mja (aka Ron Nasty) is working on a new set at the moment, well a modified version of the originals, which will be up either today (Tuesday) or tomorrow (Wednesday), however you can find the original set (not fully adopted and abided by in the current games) here and here (hopefully that is all of them).

Hope it all makes sense.

Looks like I gave them a little more leeway time-wise. a-hard-days-night-george-9george-martin Yes, hopefully the two of them can come to an agreement quickly to keep everyone a happy as possible.

EDIT: *shakes head in realization that this conversation is happening in the introduce yourself thread* Yep, just caught onto that.

Same. Don’t know much of anything about the Rutles, except that Eric Idle was in them.

@Ahhh Girl @IveJustSeenAFaceo

Ooo, The Pre-Fab Four are an important part of The Beatles story. Eric Idle was a member. He played Dirk McQuickly. The most important Rutle was/is Neil Innes (Ron Nasty), formerly of the Bonzo Doo Dah Dog Band (as seen performing Death Cab for Cutie in Magical Mystery Tour ). He wrote such a brilliant set of Beatles pastiches that they are owned by Northern Songs, and the official credits are “Innes/Lennon/McCartney” or “Innes/Harrison” (though it is usually only “Innes” who is credited on releases).

The 1978 film, All You Need Is Cash, was a combination of Monty Python and Saturday Night Live stars of the time, and had the help of George to clear the use of much footage. It featured appearances by Paul Simon and Mick Jagger, and cameos by Ronnie Wood, Bianca Jagger, and George. It is such a great film.

Has Spanish subtitles, but hey-ho!…

This will only really mean anything in the UK, but Bob Crow – leader of RMT (Rail, Maritime and Transport) union since 2002 – has died at the age of 52.

Shockingly young!

One of the most important – love him or loathe him – political figures in the country for over a decade.

A hate figure for the right, a champion of the left. Both sides will miss him!

Your spirit will be missed, Bob. RIP
