@Neely Any word on the tryout results yet?
Yes actually!!
So I borrowed Mr. Harts phone to make a phone call while we were walking home. After I hung up he said “Neely, I have to tell you a secret.”
And I agreed. He went on “I am only telling you this early because you bought me guitar strings.” We were supposed to find out monday…
“You made varsity. I am so proud of your hand work and how much you have grown this year.”
That was 6pm and I still haven’t quit smiling.
Then my mother bought me a VERY colourful eyeshadow pallet lol

I wonder why Fleetwood Mac chose a video about a sports stadium and a marching band for their song “Tusk” (my favorite FM song), a song that has nothing to do with sports or marching bands?
I believe the USC marchng band played on that track, so that’s the connection.
(I had no idea what the song was about as a 12-year old…bizarre single!)

That’s amazing @Beatlebug Except for breathing, I don’t think I’ve ever done anything 18,000 times.

@Neely Congratulations, I’m smiling as well. I guess I’ll have to save my story about trying out unsuccessfully for the baseball team, not once but TWICE!!!! I made the team on the third try, but by then I had lost interest. BTW, anyone recognize the River City building and location of the Music Man video?
Hill Valley Court House and Town Square

@Sea Belt My daughter went to USC and the marching band (Spirit of Troy) played Tusk at every home game. It was fun screaming TUSK!! at the appropriate moment. Probably scared the visiting fans a little. I think the story goes that Lindsay wanted an unusual drum sound and after much experimentation came up with this.
At the request of Mick Fleetwood, the band recruited the University of Southern California’s Trojan Marching Band to play on the single. A mobile studio was installed in Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium to record the marching band. The recording session took place on June 4, 1979. Some recorded footage of the session made it into the song’s music video.John McVie was in Tahiti during the Dodger Stadium recording, but he is represented in the video by a cardboard cutout carried around by Mick Fleetwood and later positioned in the stands with the other band members.
The Trojan Marching Band’s contributions set a record for the highest number of musicians performing on a single.[citation needed] At the time, the marching band had 112 members. During a game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on October 4, 1980, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and Mick Fleetwood presented the Trojan Band with a platinum disc for their contributions on “Tusk”.
Great Trojan wear Stevie! For those 4 years, most of the shirts I wore were red & gold.
