Paul’s performance: yes, Lady Madonna definitely took me by surprise – I loved the slower, bluesy electric piano arrangement, but unfortunately, I personally also thought the vocal improv and ending the song were both a little on the shaky side. However, the most important thing is Paul got a good message across with his part and it’s certainly made me think a lot more about the crucial work of the doctors, nurses and health workers in this pandemic than I have been.
But The Stones: BRILLIANT! Mick’s voice is in amazing shape and the overall sound quality was so good, you’d think it was a studio recording! I’ll admit, that performance has pushed You Can’t Always Get What You Want a lot higher amongst my favourite songs of theirs.

Oh I’m not saying anything about the televised platform for things but there were numbers up during the 5 or so hours I saw of the pre-show concert that you could donate to. It would be unfair to pick one of those charities as the key ‘donate’ button but they definitely could have set up a Global Citizen account where they distributed the funds equally to the charities mentioned in the videos.
I also bet Bono is livid he wasn’t asked 😉

In that clip, I wish they hadn’t cut off the speaker right after Paul’s bit.
He said something like,”You know it is important if a Beatle gets involved.”

If I recall, Jimmy Fallon (whom I normally despise, but I’m willing to give credit where it’s due) said, “You know the virus is in trouble when a Beatle gets involved.”

One of the people I was expecting to be there was Graham Nash. I thought this kind of thing would be right up his street. But then again, he did already do a great mini-concert of CSNY tunes from home a few weeks ago as part of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “In My Room” web series.

Bless his heart… sometimes I think God makes up for giving a person outsize talent in the personality department, or vice versa.

There was an article in a magazine a few months ago where a homeless lad who lives on the beach in front of Bono’s house talked about sleeping there. In the morning he sometimes sees Bono walking along the beach and Bono knows he’s there but he just walks past him, doesn’t talk to him. The homeless man had no problem with this but I find it funny how ‘good ole charitable Bono’ couldn’t be arsed to even ask the fella is he alright.

Can we just make a ‘no more celebrities’ rule? From now on, Paul and Ringo are the only famous people.

But how can I complain about Bono then???
Also, Hozier, who is a lovely person, deserved to be on the main show last night, not on the pre-show. He’s a big guy and much more entertaining than John Legend.

Schrödinger’s Bono – we simultaneously want him to go away/never bother us again and also to stick around for the purpose of ridiculing him.

I get and agree completely about what you are saying. The other side of the argument is that if Bono did anything it would be ion the net within hours, probably with video footage, leading to a flood of people in the area (many needing help, others only wanting to get a word or whatever) expecting Bono to do the same if not more for them. If he didn’t it would be in the press about what a dick Bono was for not helping one when he did the other. It’s the downside of every gesture and good deed being reported nowadays. It’s pish but how it is.

The homeless man (if I recall correctly, I read that article in like November last year) himself said he prefers to be homeless and doesn’t want to live in an ordinary building so he probably wouldn’t accept the help anyways. A cup of tea in the morning though wouldn’t do him any harm, I imagine.

My sister said I should get a haircut, so I said this:
“I’d rather not talk about this. Because I shouldn’t be talking about this. What is it with the current trend of people telling others what they should or shouldn’t be doing, or what they can or cannot do? You don’t believe in an individual’s right to make their own choices. When have I ever told you to have a hair cut? Never. So how about this, I’ll get a haircut when I want, and you can get a haircut when you want.”

I think there were rumours that Alice was going out with Henry don’t know how true they actually were.
Henry is definitely one who would make anyone’s mam proud though.
