I nearly forgot– ’tis Groundhog Day.
The amount of new articles I saw that said something like “Groundhogs can’t predict the weather” astonished me. I think we may know that by now… and yet if that dumb groundhog doesn’t tell me some good news I’m grabbing my guitar case and getting ready for some whackin’.

Also, how dare you insult the groundhog! The groundhog has magical powers and abilities that you only wish you were fantastic enough to possess

He’s a magical fantastic creature, but he’ still dumb if he hasn’t figured out how to manipulate us into giving him control of the world.

He already has, y’know, we’re just too dumb to realize that he’s got us all under his thumb (do groundhogs have thumbs?). He’s like the mice in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He’s simply too fabulous for our weak human minds to comprehend.

My grandma is also born on Feb 2nd – but the year before George.

Well, I was under the impression that CA was full of special snowflakes anyway, so…

Offline Though in England they have a whole day devoted to having bonfires, so ya know it’s all good.
Really, Thanksgiving is the clincher for me. My favourite holiday doesn’t even exist in other countries*. As much as I dig all things English, I don’t know if I could live in a country that didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving (not to mention the lack of free speech 
).
*Canada does it in October, which I guess makes sense in the Great White North.

Offline Meanwhile in Victoria (most of Australia celebrates different holidays for some reason), we have a day dedicated to a horse cruelty event (Melbourne Cup Day), a birthday (which isn’t even her real birthday) of someone who’s never lived in Australia (Queen’s Birthday ) and a sporting match (AFL Grand Final Day).
