There are so many of them that I decided to discuss it with you, the main two are Queen’s Tie Your Mother Down (I’m so shocked Bob’s Burgers has yet to use this song) and John Lennon ‘s Mother (so many scenes where the character is either moaning over the loss of or finding of their mother that could really use this song, two notable scenes are the ending of Inside Out (can’t believe my 7-year old son (6 at the time) begged me to take him to the theatre even though 6-year olds shouldn’t like Disney movies (except for ones like Power Rangers and Pirates Of The Caribbean)) and the Grinch VS The Cat In The Hat (saw this one at a friends house while heavily drunk and still noticed it could use this song instead of the ear bleeding genre commonly accossiated with movies (except for Yellow Submarine with it’s excellent music) and rappers and pop stars)).

Mother was in an episode of The Simpsons and was used for precisely that.

The Air That I Breathe by the Hollies. Not sure what for, maybe for near the end of a film, or during some ”realization scene” or something. Some sad dramatic moment.
The song was used in “The Virgin Suicides” to good effect.
Also I mentioned “Marquee Moon” above. It WAS in “CBGB” but in context, not used for dramatic effect or anything.

Old ass thread but I think Big Brother and Holding Company’s “Piece of My Heart” Is the perfect song to play when the credits start rolling
An episode of cable’s “Mad Men” used that track over the final scene/closing credits. (Same program also paid something like a half-million to use “Tomorrow Never Knows “!)

*literally every Beatles song ever*
Aside from that, I’m at a loss as to why there are so few Kinks songs in movies.
Apeman would be an easy song to use in a movie, for instance

I feel like any song I could suggest has already been used in some movie I’m unaware of. That said, I’d love to see Slowdive’s Alison in a film sometime.

I seem to remember mentioning somewhere around here (maybe its respective thread??) that perhaps My Mummy’s Dead would be a good choice for a scene in a horror movie where somebody is all scared still in the moments before the killer/monster/whatever attacks them, in order to build tension. It’s got that jack-in-the-box-type feel to it that I think would be suitable.
A further explanation of how it could be used, just in case my previous one didn’t make enough sense:
– Soon-to-be victim(s): *frightened; their eyes are darting all over the place, but they’re too scared to be able to move*
– Song starts playing. Victim(s) still as before.
– Song ends. A brief pause, and silence.
– BAM! All of a sudden, evil/dangerous thingy attacks out of nowhere.
Cue screaming.
Audience now needs a change of pants.
Bonus points if the scene and/or film is, indeed, related to somebody’s mummy being killed or already dead.
