It really gets on my nerves when I buy something that is “Like New” and it comes in the mail and the discs are scuffed or the box is dented.  I also really hate it when there are two versions of something and the seller advertises that it is one version and it comes in the mail and it’s the other version, the one I didn’t want in the first place.

Why can’t they just be honest?  They must think I won’t actually return it.

Depending on the vendor a lot of the ebay stuff is done in bulk and supplied by a third party.  I had one that PayPal gave me a full refund on as it was the wrong version and the supplier was being difficult.  I got it for free, not the 2 disc set I wanted but I can live with the basic one for that price.  This was a major US supplier who also deals through Amazon, but the order was fulfilled in Austria and obviously no one bothered to check that what they sent was what I ordered.

It is very annoying as you note – and I just hate the wait and then all the hassle of getting it sorted.

Same with boxed sets with the wrong CDs in some of the sleeves – seems to be a rash of this going on just now – the Dylan Complete set has had at least 3 issues commonly reported around the net.

When I got my Paul McCartney Ecce Cor Meum second hand from the Amazon Marketplace, it had a Pink Floyd cd in it instead. Thankfully, the seller didn’t give me any trouble and sent me the correcct cd.

Hubby ordered a tv remote control for his mom for Christmas. The enclosed letter in package with the remote said something to the effect that they really didn’t have the original brand-name remote he ordered, but they were sure he would like the generic one they substituted. Suckers got that thing back. a-hard-days-night-paul-11blue-meanie

I’ve had quite a few things happen this holiday season.  My wife ordered George Harrison ‘s Life in the Material World on DVD and we got the Let It Roll CD instead.  I ordered a Carl Perkins CD that was advertised as the 17-song version and got the 16-song version.  My Dark Horse Box came with little rips and tears in it, and creases on the top of the box (and coming slightly unglued).  And my George Harrison Bangladesh CDs were advertised as “like new” and had scuffs all over them.

And the mail has been super slow, so it’s not all sorted out yet.

^ and ^^  Ouch – quite a list just from 2 people.  Hope they fix that box – luckily mine came all the way from the USA in super condition – it was my Xmas gift from the family.  I also have the wrong remote for my new CD player – the store are still looking for the box – will see how that goes.

At first, I thought this was a topic disparaging the great actor Peter Sellers…blue-meanie

^ You could have claimed it was a Beatles related post by making a vague Magic Christian allusion :)

Thank you, I need it!  I seem to have bad luck pretty frequently.  But my wife says I’m a perfectionist when it comes to buying new things.

No problem with that. Shows you care (in a good way) about your worldly possessions and the hard work you put into being able to afford them.

I’m the same.  I have a Tolkien book which has a slight tear on the spine.  I bought it over 40 years ago and it STILL annoys me!!

I try to rationalise it as the imperfection which defines the perfection of the rest of my books :)

^ Oh, and that’s why I don’t have my LPs now as mentioned in another thread – I can’t handle any hiss, crackle or pops.

If an album has quiet spaces or is just someone singing with an acoustic guitar, I will not buy the LP for that same reason–can’t stand the pops.  And it seems as if quality control has gotten much worse at record pressing plants.  If you want quality vinyl, buy something made 1980’s or before.

Glad to know I am not alone in my perfectionism.  I’m always pointing to some huge defect in something I bought and my wife says, “What?  I don’t see anything.”  LOL.

You make-a me laugh. Did you buy it new or used? If new, do you know who did the dastardly deed? Have you forgiven that person – even if you yourself caused the tear?

It was new – and a slight tear that was concealed inside the dustcover – probably like that when I bought it but it went out of print before I could return it :)

Whenever any imperfect CD lands on my door I just remember that book – I CAN live with it, I know I can!!

I ordered the Beatles Rock Band on Ebay, and I asked the seller first to make sure it was in good condition, they said it was barely played an in great condition. I thought my controller was arriving earlier and impatience got the better of me, I found a cheaper used copy in perfect condition at GameStop. That was lucky because it arrived yesterday and has all sorts of scuffs and marks on it.

Ill just have to try and clean it off and resell it. The moral? Impatience can be good… even though my guitar controller still isn’t here yet! blue-meanie I need to be more patient. a-hard-days-night-ringo-14paul-mccartney

My DVD of ‘Concert for George’ was advertised as “Very Good-Like New” when I got it, the cover had the living bejaysus beaten out of it and the 2 disc wouldn’t stay in, I fixed it as well as I could but it still irritates me all these pristine DVDs in a row and then this battered cover right in the middle. If it wasn’t such a good concert, I’d return it! a-hard-days-night-george-4
