You know how Syd-era Floyd and the earliest Syd-less Floyd wasn’t dealt with too well in 2011’s Why Pink Floyd…? reissue campaign, and the Discovery box set, well…

And on a different note, thank the Lord, Floydy Girl’s been turned on to Jugband Blues!
Was I not turned on before?
Expert Textpert posted in a different thread which I am avoiding derailing
When I was in high school, there was a stereo in the room where we had our church youth group, and we would sometimes put our own music on while we played pool. I would always put Pink Floyd on, and people would complain that the songs were so long and the music just went on and on with no vocals. I can remember saying, “We just haven’t gotten to the vocal part yet.”
I guess you weren’t putting the ‘See Emily Play’ type stuff on then?
Pink Floyd is one of those things… either you love it or it bores you to no end. I frequently must remind myself that ‘Some People Never Know’; it makes it all the more special when you do meet someone who gets it.

Oh. Well, I can’t go through and mention my opinion on every PFsing ever done– there are too many and ye’d be here all longlonglong! But yah, ’tis a class exit from our Crazy Diamond. The most perfect last PFsing he could possibly write. IT’s just a damn fine piece o work, that’s all

I’m really not sure how I feel about things like this. I mean, I know that I first heard tracks like I’m A King Bee, Lucy Leave, and Vegetable Man on bootlegs several years ago and the band is just trying to make an honest buck. That said, I feel that most bands should keep at least some stuff in the archives just to keep the mystery alive.

If you’ve never heard of The Australian Pink Floyd Show (http://www.aussiefloyd.com/)
I just came back from an astounding show. These guys had dialed in every nuance that makes the Pink Floyd sound. I definitely recommend seeing them if they come around.
The Shine On You Crazy Diamond was especially good.

Noticed announcements about this while visiting the V&A beginning of last week.
Meant to post about it then, but just remembered. Apologies.
For those in London next summer, the V&A are holding a major Floyd exhibition entitled “The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains”, it runs for 20 weeks from 13 May.
Nick Mason talks some about the exhibition here.

I love Pink Floyd, Dark Side Of The Moon is up there with Sgt. Pepper and A Night At The Opera and I actually faked being sick just to listen to this album when it came out and it was worth it.

Silly Girl wittered about Pink Floyd
Now dragging the thread back on topic because I can ALWAYS witter about Pink Floyd, my top five albums (as of NOW*) are as follows:
The Dark Side Of The Moon
Wish You Were Here
Atom Heart Mother
Animals
Tie: The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn / A Saucerful Of Secrets (truly A Nice Pair indeed).*This might change any second though.
Yeah. At the moment, I think it’s more like
1. Wish You Were Here
2. Atom Heart Mother
3. Dark Side
4. Animals
5. Tie: Piper and Meddle

I think I might save up for The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, definitely DSOTM, and then the rest (or should I buy them in order?) I’m not too bothered whether it’s on Vinyl or CD, and I’m trying to avoid those MP3 sites, but they’re too tempting . I’ve downloaded Beatles and other stuff off them in the past, but promise not to do it with Pink Floyd.
Oh, and you can thank the likes of Silly Girl and Sir Walter for making me post here.

DSotM is the most accessible, start with that. Or I’d recommend Wish You Were Here, Animals, and Meddle. Then I’d go with The Wall, Ummagumma, Obscured By Clouds (I think it’s beautiful). THEN I’d dip into things like Piper (at least Syd’s stuff) … , Momentary Lapse…, Division Bell.
Oh, and HM, some of us DO listen to CDs, thank you very much.

You could, yes, add Saucerful after Obscured. Relics is good for Syd era stuff for sure, maybe listen to that with Piper.

Peppdog, ye likes psychedelia, so I do recommend the early stuff (though after Saucerful it’s not really psychedelic anymower, it goes more avant-garde/experimental/early progressive/folk by turns). Chronological order is probably a good idea (I wish I could say I’d tried that, but the fact that I’ve known a couple albums for ever messed that up for me).
Or you could follow this chart:

Why not just listen to them off YouTube, it’s perfectly legal
As I said on the Pink Floyd Sound forum: YouTube sucks (waiting for Skip Ad in between Money and Us And Them? Hell no).
and CD’s are so obsolete, you mind as well use them for target practice.
Don’t give me that do goody good bull****. CDs are my second-favourite format.
