I feel like everyone speaking the same language would make international communication easier. If works are translated before a language dies, is the culture really dead?
Yes. You can never translate something 100% there is always something lacking in a translation.
As regards international communication, I am a completely different person when I speak Irish, French or German.
In German I sound “cuter” (as I’ve been told, this is not my own self-assumption), in Irish I’m rather boisterous and like making puns and in French I’m an energetic slightly-crazed individual, prone to spontaneous decisions that I wouldn’t make if I was speaking any of the other languages.
^That poem of Baudelaire isn’t a 100% proper translation, you can’t copy the syntax or the way a language feels, you have to know the language to truly ‘get it’ (yes I do realise how pretentious that sounds).
Besides there is millions, if not billions pieces of work created over at least a few hundred years in literature in every written language, it would be impossible to translate everything.

Maybe I’d feel different if I spoke another language. If I get called to a nonenglish mission, ask me this question again when I return.

What do you guys think about modern day feminism. Personally for me, this pisses me off because it seems like modern day feminism is just women bitching and moaning because they think they lack rights and try to make all white adult human straight non-disabled males seem like perverts. Now don’t make me seem rude here, women don’t have to be slaves to their husband, doing all of the cooking and cleaning while the husband works, I don’t mind women being in the workforce or being allowed to vote or writing a film or whatever and classic feminism is fine but I just can’t agree with modern day feminism, but I would like to hear what you guys think.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I think that there’s no point to it. The movement is super hypocritical, and just likes to create problems that don’t exist. I prefer egalitarianism.

I agree, it’s like girls are going out of their way to find stuff to complain about, it’s especially stupid considering how many males think of feminists as a joke and a nuisance. This post was edited because the content was deemed too offensive by the creator of this post.

Agreed, in areas like the middle east women are treated like s**t and over there it would be fine, but in the US it’s stupid as hell to be complaining. Here’s a comparison:
Middle East:
Women must cover everything except for their eyes and hands and get absurd consequences if they don’t, I mean they got a harsher consequence than I would if I ran around in public without any clothes on and pissed in a moving car’s open window.
https://www.jihadwatch.org/201…..g-the-veil
The United States of America:
Some stupid girl who clearly dropped out at 2nd grade decides that the classic damsel in distress storyline is sexist. If she was a damsel in distress, I sure wouldn’t help her.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…..ideo_Games
And then there’s those feminists that try to say porn is sexist despite the fact that the women in the videos are clearly consenting to it.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I’m a feminist and I don’t need to justify it to anyone. Women are people too and they face many societal disadvantages and discrimination still. It’s easy to say that women don’t have it that bad when you’re not a woman. I don’t want to add more than that, because I just don’t.

I think you might need to spend less time on Tumblr and 4chan. There’s nothing wrong with feminism, which at its core is a promotion of equal rights and treatment for women. I can assure you that 99% of all males do *not* think of feminists as a joke and a nuisance (although maybe that’s true among the men/boys you know).
Also, your blanket statements about the Middle East (which encompasses more than 15 countries and spans continents) aren’t particularly clever. Do you really think that “Women must cover everything except for their eyes and hands and get absurd consequences if they don’t” in places like Jordan or Cyprus?
Pah, I’m stepping away from this thread. Too much ignorance. smh.

Ok, first the things I might agree with you on: Sometimes equal right movements that were created to preserve the rights of a minority A tend to discriminate against the majority B because the minority A is getting so much support that it is privileged. This happens in some cases ( for example PE teachers giving every girl at least one grade better because they are so weak is a bit exaggerated). But you are talking about modern day feminism in general in a very insulting way and that is just not appropriate in my opinion because first of all women are still paid less in many countries even in the so-called Western world and after all women have to give birth and are therefore already constrained by nature concerning their working force, so summed up you cannot pretend feminism isn’t needed anymore.
Additionally, I have never in my life met a modern day feminist who was behaving in the way you described it, they might sometimes prefer women to men and that’s unfair towards men I admit, but these are individual events and not the usual happening and their occurrence is also not linked with the movement ‘feminism’ but rather with individual human beings who make mistakes.
So please think about it again, stop insulting people, consider that probably what you have experienced (if you have experienced something bad) is not the fault of modern day feminism but of individuals who maybe took it too far and be a bit more tolerant and respectful towards other opinions and movements because often a topic is not that one-sided you can describe it like you did.
And if you respect feminists, we may even listen to you when you have factual critic with our methods.

I’m sad.
I thought the language used by @Dark Overlord would be of better quality than that of the “alts”. Profanity in such quantity is unappealing. I was hoping for a new and better man… An occasional swear word doesn’t make me upset, but too much of it is stomach turning. The way the subject content was presented, too, still reeks of the “alts”. This is just my opinion as a forumpudlian, not a mod.

Well, to be clear, it doesn’t have to be non-consensual to be objectifying, damaging and destructive. And I’m not saying all pornography is bad in itself…but most porn caters to male dominance fantasies, exposure to porn at an early age is becoming increasingly common with the internet making it so readily available, as is overexposure to porn in general.
But, hey, what do I know, I’m a feminist…

It might be more how it is presented then what it is.
There are some arguments both for and against modern feminism that can be made.
If you want to make an argument about this subject, you can and I’ll try and hear you out.
I find there is a problem now a days with echo chambers where people seek and stick themselfs only in places that parrot what they already think.

If this was directed at me… If I make an argument on my opinion, that’s like tying myself behind a horse and then telling the rider to go. No matter how strong my argument could be, I will end up bloody and beaten when the horse stops dragging me.
