People using apostrophes before the letter s for plurals and present tense (real life examples I have seen: “For soccer fan’s,” “see’s a dog,” etc.). For some reason my generation seems to universally agree that this is correct (it isn’t), and normally I try to call as little attention to myself as possible, so I never say anything. Today, however, we were working on a final group project in my (advanced) English class, and this one kid did it. I yelled slightly louder than I meant to, “No! Please don’t do that! Please!” and the entire class ended up hearing me. Which is the absolute last thing I need right now, seeing as they’ll bug me about it forever. Yay.

I do use apostrophes for plurals but only for things like a single letter.  I don’t want A’s to be confused with As which is itself a word.  I wouldn’t do it for normal words though.

Plastic bowls and lids. They never last the same amount of time. Either the lid goes out or the bowl does. You should be able to buy them separately.

I once had a massive coughing fit during a test. I went up to the teacher to ask to leave the room, but I couldn’t really talk, Icould only cough, so he took one Look At Me and sent me out for some water, where I promptly died of mortification.

Have you ever had a laughing fit during a test? I get them sometimes (I don’t laugh out loud that much, so I think somehow my body saves them up and then I can laugh for half an hour straight over something that’s not even remotely funny without being able to stop). I got one in the middle of a science test once (I’m pretty sure it was because of the word “gel”) and they also sent me to “go get a drink of water.” Fortunately, managed to calm myself down that time, but now every time I take a test I’m scared it will happen again.

I hate that it’s already 2019 and people still call a woman “witch” because of her involvement in a man’s life. I think using this term is just unfair and offensive, no matter what “negative influence” she has brought to him, not to mention that women’s faults are often exaggerated.

(And yes, I was reading another discussion about Yoko.)

The Brits bombing all of the palaces I’ve gone to see in Germany during WWII. I was at Herrenhausen in Hanover yesterday (gorgeous gardens) and the entire palace was destroyed by the RAF during the war. They rebuilt it from 2009-2013 but you can’t go inside the palace now, rather you can visit a very crappy museum that has barely any original items because they were practically all destroyed.

Image Enlarger

You wouldn’t mind but it’s actually the summer residence of the ancestors of the current British royals (George I and George II regularly visited Herrenhausen and expanded the gardens immensely). So they really destroyed their own house.

Charlottenburg Palace (just outside of Berlin) had everything above its first floor incredibly damaged, so once again it lost a load of furniture, incredibly ceiling work, and architectural details. A lot of this has been rebuilt but there still quite a few ceilings that are now bare where there used to be gorgeous paintings. (I’d really recommend Charlottenburg btw, I was there at about 3pm on a Friday and there was about 20 other people including me in the entire palace, felt like I had the entire place to myself).

The Germans might have got their own revenge though, Charlottenburg was the Hohenzollern’s palace, the Kings of Prussia. As I’ve said before I’m very interested in Queen Victoria (which is partially why I visited both of these places). Queen Vic’s eldest daughter Vicky, the Princess Royal, was married to Frederick III, who was the second last King of Prussia (he died of cancer 88 days into his reign). Even though, it’s quite an interesting tidbit poor Vicky doesn’t get a single mention on the tour. There is a portrait of her tucked away in the corner of a portrait room but that’s it.

The Germans did bomb Buckingham palace but did very little damage compared to what the Brits did.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but it pisses me off when people call it littering when one is indoors. If you’re not outside, then you’re just being messy.

When a teacher gives you a study guide and then collects it at the end of class.

Isn’t the point of a study guide to– gasp — study it?
