I’d actually like a bit of discussion about this, so feel free to disagree with me, whoever wants to!
Bryan Cranston has defended the fact that he is an abled-body actor playing a quadriplegic in his latest film. Sam Clafin had to do similar things when he was in Me Before You.
Darren Criss said he won’t play any roles where he’s an LGBT character because he did not want to be “another straight boy taking a gay man’s role”.
Why? Actors are actors, I’ve portrayed a lesbian in a play before, it’s what I did/do. So long as you are doing it respectfully what does it matter if it’s a straight male actor playing a transgender woman for example, or a physically-health actor playing a disabled character.
We don’t complain about Neil Patrick Harris stealing straight-men’s roles, so why should we care if Criss plays a gay character??

I agree with you ASJ.
Not that I watch it, but the Disney show ‘Andi Mack’ made lots of headlines for having one of the characters come out as gay. It received much positive welcoming, and the actor, Joshua Rush, (to the best of my knowledge) isn’t straight.
This video sums it up:
It shouldn’t be about what an actor is – hell, if they only cast based on real life, there would be a shortage of films with antagonists in them… An actor’s job is to act.

I hate the term LGBT, i wish it was just LGB since gay and trans are 2 completely different things.

I disagree. Bi is different to gay, so if you’re going to get rid of that, it’d have to be LG.
Also it’s LGBTQI+ now.
The whole idea of that is to basically say that you’re non-heterosexual. To get rid of trans is far too important. That does have to do with your sexuality, albeit not as directly. Besides, it’s about acceptance not what you want to type to save yourself pressing an extra key!

I’m fed up of being forced to read and annotate articles about how teens’ brains aren’t fully formed and how we’re destroying our minds with technology and the new generation is the dumbest one yet. We get it, teachers, we’ve all read these articles ten million times, you can stop now.

Yes, and yet, the same reports come out every ten years – look at the 1970s, compare the standard to now. It’s not the same, I know, but they still did a lot of unsafe stuff. They turned out fine. Besides, we didn’t invent the technology, and it is helping the world.
Also, just the annotating stuff annoys me. It also annoyed John Lennon , and he wrote I Am The Walrus . Stop over-analysing stuff, teachers. You’re seeing stuff when it’s not there.

Not really, Bisexual is a sexuality just like homosexuality whereas transgender is about being someone you weren’t born as.
The whole idea of that is to basically say that you’re non-heterosexual. To get rid of trans is far too important. That does have to do with your sexuality, albeit not as directly. Besides, it’s about acceptance not what you want to type to save yourself pressing an extra key!
I’m fine with trans people and don’t mind pressing an extra key (i wouldn’t mind LGBA), it’s just that i don’t like the idea of merging 2 distinct groups into one.

Offline Yep! I think in the case of a few teachers that I’ve had, they just don’t like technology that their students are better at using than they are. They’ll pass out an article about how the internet is humankind’s worst invention and we’ve become reliant on it and no one learns any real skills, and guess where they got the article from? The Internet.

Bi is a sexuality like gay. If the group is about sexuality then trans wouldn’t be included. Trans has nothing to do with ur sexuality. A trans man can be gay, straight, bi, asexual, etc.
Though since Queer is a catch all term, if you really want to save letters, could just go by Q+.

Offline Nope. Just to be clear, I’m not quite sure what the difference is, but I have two bisexual friends and one pansexual friend who all assure me they are not the same thing.
