Interesting little detail there, thanks for posting it! If you want to talk about James Taylor, you might try asking Funny Paper her opinion – I think she’s one of the biggest JT fans on this forum. (I don’t care much for the guy myself but whaddo I know?)

I think Funny Paper’s a guy

Furthermore (I knew I forgot something), the Wiki entry goes on…

The spoiler is not so much for revealing a plot twist but more to warn you that it might be painful to read as it somewhat graphically describes stuff about that fateful night in December…

On December 7, 1980, Taylor had an encounter with Mark David Chapman, who would assassinate John Lennon just one day later. Taylor told the BBC in 2010 “The guy had sort of pinned me to the wall and was glistening with maniacal sweat and talking some freak speak about what he was going to do and his stuff with how John was interested, and he was going to get in touch with John Lennon . And it was surreal to actually have contact with the guy 24 hours before he shot John.” The next night Taylor, who lived in the next building from Lennon, heard the assassination occur. Taylor commented “I heard him shot—five, just as quick as you could pull the trigger, about five explosions”

@Matt Busby Helpful hint, you can put things in spoilers by highlighting them, then clicking the yellow face that should appear.

See! Just click the yellow frowny face with the shaded eyes and anything you highlighted will be in this kind of box!

Speaking of Peter Asher and Apple records, I heard a great Howard Stern interview with Graham Nash. Turns out that Crosby, Stills, and Nash auditioned for Peter Asher and George H. They played essentially what would be their whole first album. And they got turned down! [They also got turned down at CBS where they were auditioned by Simon and Garfunkel]. It was Ahmet Erteggun at Atlantic who saw some potential there… (And that’s why he was the great Ahmet Erteggun.)

And we can say for sure, that he was the best person named Ahmet Erteggun to have ever lived.

I posted this in another thread, but it fits here to so HA!

Been listening to this one a lot lately.

It just doesn’t seem like that voice could come out of that face.  I mean it literally seems like she’s lip-syncing, like Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady.  But I’m sure she’s not.  That voice just doesn’t fit her face, I don’t know how else to say it.

Regardless, she’s got a great voice.  Thanks for sharing it.

Hmm…. I have only listened to 2 Non-Beatle Artists on The Apple Label (Billy Preston and James Taylor even if it was only his first album) and you know they are pretty good. I still need to listen to more though

I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.
