People have used this forum to meet offline for almost as long as it’s been around. Friendships have been forged, people have met each other for concerts and events, holidays have been had and so on. It can be fun to make new friends with common interests, and I’m sure we all know amazing people we first encountered online.
A recent posting by FlyingAnt in the McCartney section (which I’ve moved here) made us wonder if a thread for suggesting meet-ups would be useful.
We’d rather people use the private messaging system to contact each other, rather than making public arrangements. This thread is for people to suggest a meet-up to which others can respond privately, should they wish. It’s fine to respond here asking for more info, but if you’re going to make arrangements I’d suggest you use PMs.

Please do not do this if you are under 18.
Some good practice for making private arrangements:
- Get a feel for someone by chatting and getting to know them before arranging to meet IRL.
- Only disclose as much information (location, phone number, email address, photo etc) as you’re comfortable with sharing.
- Don’t feel pressured into anything. It’s fine to back out (both parties should be courteous and considerate).
- If you do decide to meet, arrange to do it somewhere public the first time.
- Tell a trusted friend or relative where you’re going and with whom. Write down and give them specific details.
- Keep your wits about you.

Offline Who said anything about virtual, i want a proper invite to the actual ceremony along with a 3 month all paid all-inclusive stay in Australia. Wedding takes 20 minutes, quick toast to the bride and groom, a bite of a sausage roll and then its back to relaxing on the beach.
