Hello, I’ve discovered your site looking for an answer to the question, just what are the people speaking at the end of “I Am The Walrus ” saying?

That is what led me to your site, why I want to stay is because I have loved The Beatles since childhood, which, for me, is the mid-sixties. I saw “Help ” at one of our local movie theaters, I listened to any radio station that had the Beatles in heavy rotation. (I live in The States) The Beatles are not “just a musical group” any more than Beethoven is “just a composer” And I love Beethoven.

I don’t know how typical this is for other Beatles fans on this site, but going into adolescence, in the dismal 70’s, (emphasis on dismal)  I really connected with “John Lennon Plastic Ono Band,” “Imagine “,  “All Things Must Pass ” and”Living In The Material World ”  I also really connected with The Who’s “Quadrophenia” for pretty much the same reason that Lennon’s “Working Class Hero ” became an anthem for me in 1973. Living in an area dominated by heavy industry, and seeing it all turn to s**t nearly overnight, knowing, KNOWING, there was NO future, unless I got the hell out of there…

Through it all, I’ve never lost my love for The Beatles. I listen to them constantly. The only other musicians I pay that sort of “homage” to are Peter Gabriel and Afro Celt Sound System.

Watch out now, take care, beware of thoughts that linger, winding up inside your head, the hopelessness around you, in the dead of night, beware of sadness, it can hit you, it can hurt you, make you sore, and what is more, that is not what you are here for.

Welcome, Passchendaele. Glad you tripped across the site and decided to join us in conversation. Your rich Beatles history will be valuable to us. I’m 45 and just discovered The Beatles this year. I hope to be learning a lot from you in the times ahead.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your story.

I’m always looking for good music, as others here are, and if you have suggestions to offer for Peter Gabriel or Afro Celt Sound System, feel free to post them in one of the other All Together Now threads.

Thank you for that. It takes a bit of “getting used to” new sites for us…ahem…older users. I shant bore you with tales of mis-threaded posts that caused me to go, “Ah, for the love of….another fine site I’m too embarrassed to go back to.” I am especially thankful for threads dedicated to sharing our enormously varied musical journeys. I love discovering new music, especially “world” music, and there are so few people who, or so it seems to me, have any interest at all in going beyond their musical “ghettos”.

There are some musical genres that I wouldn’t listen to unless I was paid to do so, but that is just me and my personal thing, I won’t run them down, those musicians are getting paid to play the music they love, POWER TO E’M! Any musician who can make a living playing their music is living a charmed life. God bless e’m all.

Watch out now, take care, beware of thoughts that linger, winding up inside your head, the hopelessness around you, in the dead of night, beware of sadness, it can hit you, it can hurt you, make you sore, and what is more, that is not what you are here for.

^ I think there are a few I would pay good money to if they would STOP playing music, but I’d better not derail this thread :)

We could club together and start a collection dedicated to paying them to stop – there would need to be a legal unbreakable contract however.

Passchendaele, i wouldnt worry about mis-threaded posts, happens often here and needs a mod to come along with a strictstay-on-topic

Hey yall, I am Jake

I am currently a 21 year old Senior at The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I am going to have a degree in Journalism & Electronic Media (concentrated in video production) and minors in History and Cinema Studies at the end of next semester. I am also a varsity member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, all while being in the leadership of the entirely student run environmental group S.P.E.A.K. (Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville).

I was born in North Carolina, but was raised in Clarksville Tennessee. My mother introduced me to the Beatles entirely. Just by coincidence the first two Beatle songs I remember are sung by Ringo, my mother sang me Goodnight at bed and Octopus’ Garden while in the bath. George is my favorite Beatle but really who doesn’t love them all. I am also a huge Dylan and Allman fan.

Most importantly though I am glad to now be a part of a community who is as obsessed and is even more knowledgable about The Beatles than I am.

Thanks Yall!

Welcome Annadog40 and SirFrankie, and anyone else I’ve missed.

Annadog! First day here and second already on your second avatar! I liked the cute puppy, and hope he’s gone to a decent home, and not some puppy farm in the sky. Can’t complain about the new avatar being a John fan though.

I am Me as you are She and we are all together! Enjoy your time here, and don’t be shy.

SirFrankie, a joy to see you introduce yourself. I hope that means you’re thinking we may be seeing a bit more of you around here, as I’ve enjoyed your posts so far. Jump in.

We’re a friendly and mixed bunch, and I hope you’ll enjoy yourself here.

The only thing I would recommend to both of you is to read the Forum Rules. There aren’t many, and they’re pretty basic, but useful to know. You don’t have to read the whole thing (as with everything here it turns into a conversation!), but I would recommend the first post.

Hey everybody, my real name is Mike. Born in New Jersey and still live in the state. I started to get into the Beatles when I was only six years old. My father turned on the TV and a clip of the Beatles from the Ed Sullivan show was on. Ever since then I began to listen to their music a grew to love it. To be true, I miss having music like this. Today it is all different with this pop music and hip hop. I miss the old times when rock dominated the music world. Now to get this out of the way, I am a hardcore Beatles fan. I am always celebrating an album anniversary, like on Nov. 22 With the Beatles turns 50 years old, or I’m either listening to them all the time. I will take breaks and listen to music similar, but I will never stop liking the Beatles. My favorite is Paul McCartney . I can play bass and guitar. I am still just learning piano, but I will get there. So that is me, and I am glad to be on the forum with you awesome people!

If children are studying the 20th century, I'm in their text books.

I’m Neil.  I use vectisfabber because “vectis” is the Latin for the isle of Wight, where I’m from, and you can probably guess why “fabber.”

I’m 61, and a Beatles fan since I saw them on Thank Your Lucky Stars when I was 11.  I’ll state now that I find their solo careers comprehensively disappointing with occasional high spots.

Hooray for the 2nd BBC set, but whatever happened to Let It Be , the Esher demos, Hollywood Bowl, Antholgy 4….?
