Welcome, @thebeatlesfan1967!
Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

Hello all. I’m Bill and I’ve been a Beatles fan since the end of 1963. I was able to see them live on the 1966 tour in Memphis, Tennessee, and was there for the “cherry-bomb” concert. In fact, the firework (an M-80 if I recall) landed on the walkway 3 rows ahead of me near my mezzanine seat, about one section in front of the stage along the side, on Paul’s side. Soon after it exploded, a gaggle of police headed toward where my friends and I were sitting. For reasons that I’ve never been sure of, they grabbed me, and began to take me out of the crowd. I thought I was going to be arrested, when other fans in my section began to argue with the police, pointing up toward the back of the section, where the firework had come from. The police left me, and shortly after came out of the crowd with three young (teenage) males, whom I heard later had been ejected from the show. So my claim to fame is that I was almost arrested at a Beatles concert.
I’m 66 and a retired psychotherapist. I’ve been lurking around this website for a month or so now, and have decided to plunge in at last. I look forward to meeting many of you in the forum.

Hello guys. I was introduced to The Beatles 10 years ago at the young age of 4 by my Dad, I was instantly hooked. By the end of the year I started playing drums, all because of Ringo. A couple of years past and I just stopped listening to The Beatles and moved on to more modern rock. A couple of months ago I decided to start listening to The Beatles as I lost motivation when it came to playing drums, it was the best decision of my life. I went from playing my drums once a week to everyday and The Beatles once again became my favourite band. It’s great to listen to them again and remember my old favourites and find new ones. This time I’m looking more into the stories behind the songs and all the background information and context and it makes the music even better. I’m joining this forum as no one at school listens to The Bealtes and this is the best place to discuss Beatles stuff. I’m looking forward to talking to many of you on here.

Welcome to the forum @Thommo! Great story you have, rediscovering the Beatles was indeed the best decision you could make! I hope you have a great time here and I’m looking forward to some Beatley discussions with you! By the way, you’ll find that there are many other members who play the drums as well with which you can share your thoughts!

The apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. Yay for parents to play Beatles music to their children.
Glad you have rediscovered The Beatles and want to know about them more in depth this time around, @Thommo.

Glad you’ve joined this forum @Thommo! Part of why I joined this forum was because very few people at my school talk about the Beatles! I’m sure you’ll learn lots of things here!
