Right now I’m listening to the playback of a hugely important interview for Fab Files. Easily the biggest guest and biggest topic I have ever covered for the show, and I hope to have the episode (or episodes- my guest gave me a LOT to work with, so I might get 2 episodes out of it) ready by the end of the month. I soon will also be doing an interview with @Into the Sky with Diamonds about his book for the show relatively soon. Some mighty big topics coming up, and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

Resting in the hotel room between going to see 1. Delos island, 2. the oldest known depection of the Trojan horse (it is on a big vase in the archaeological museum on Mykonos), and 3. the myriad of small, winding streets with cute little shops today and a nice dinner and view of the sunset tonight.

Ahhh Girl, as you are a-wanderin’ down these small, winding streets with cute little shops, make sure you are making mental notes about your many Penny Lane -ish observations. Like for instance, if you see any pretty nurses selling poppies from trays, or firemen carrying hourglasses, or barbers showing photographs of heads, or whatever. I’ll probably never get to Greece, and I’m sure I’m not the only one traveling vicariously through you. :)

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 There were poppies growing all over Delos and my mom is a nurse :-) That’s kinda close. We did pass a few barber shops. The closest thing I had to a Beatley moment was seeing a lttle strawberry trinket box…well, other than the three comments I’ve gotten on my Abbey Road /Peanuts t-shirt I got for Christmas.

Hey, that is kinda close. Well, just remember to keep Delos in your ears and in your eyes. And if you start to feel as if you’re in a play… uh… you are anyway. :)

Yeah, me too! I’m sure Mr. Roosa will keep us posted as to exactly when to listen.

Right now? Watchin hockey, listening to Beethoven, Facebooking and waiting for the end of the period so I can begin to fix dinner. Oh and posting here, of course.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Right now, I’m dreading graduation-related events.  The commencement ceremony is in a few hours and I want no part of it.  I’m only doing it because I know that it’s not up to me and I have no choice.

I’m so sick of people telling me that they’re proud of me, because I don’t feel like I’ve done anything praiseworthy and I’m not proud of myself because I see no reason to be.

I really don’t want all the attention and fanfare, and I certainly hate showing off like this.

I should mention at some point in this post that I am not actually graduating, and I am just doing the ceremony and coming back for one more semester afterwards.

Sitting on a restaurant porch overlooking the Aegean Sea and feeling so thankful that @Ron Nasty saved my arse by having this thread cached on his computer.

Oh, and I am eating tomato balls and mushrooms in cream sauce (those are two separate dishes).

Listening to the U.S. version of Help ! That leaves three U.S. albums left to get (not counting The Beatles Story): The Early Beatles, Revolver and Beatles VI

Oh, and I am eating tomato balls and mushrooms in cream sauce.

Just for fun, I googled “tomato balls and mushrooms in cream sauce, Greek style.” I actually found a recipe for “Chicken Glifada,” using these exact ingredients. And Glifada (sometimes spelled Glyfada), is a ritzy suburb of Athens, home to many of Greece’s millionaires, ministers and celebrities, and stretches from the foot of the Hymettas Mountain to the Saronic Gulf. It is known as the “Beverly Hills of Greece.” So, “Chicken Glyfada” must be some fancy eaten.’

I am joining some co-workers on Thursday for lunch. We will be going to a new Greek restaurant opened by our former boss, who is Greek. I think I will impress everyone by asking the server if the kitchen can prepare “Chicken Glyfada.” If they are confused, I will gently remind them that it consists of “tomato balls and mushrooms in a cream sauce.” That will make me seem like I know what I am talking about, which much of the time is clearly not the case. ;-)

@Mr. Kite, what we had were two separate dishes. The “tomato balls” were like fried green tomatoes back in the states (except they were made with slices of red tomatoes).

But, your dish description sounds yummy too.

Mr. Kite, it appears that message was meant for me; but tonight, apparently you are topping the bill. I’m not blaming Ahhh Girl, though… mainly because Greece can be such an intoxicating place. I imagine Ahhh Girl is BB posting on her laptop while she sits in a charming Greek tavern, washing down her fried green tomatoes with many shots of Ouzo, the strong anise-flavored liqueur. Given those circumstances, under that heady influence, that’s an easy mistake to make. ;-)

Of course we can’t blame AG, vacationing in Europe would distract most (non-European) people. All the licorice scented alcohol around might not help… a-hard-days-night-george-10

Mea culpa, @Bungalow Bob. I’m on my phone, not even a laptop. Thank you all for bearing with me while I’m quite distracted yet wanting to keep up with you all as much as I can.

Right now, I am having dinner in the shadow of the Lysicrates Monument. I toured the new Acropolis Museum this afternoon. I’ll have a post about it ready for you all about it soon. I went on a special quest while I was in there.

Well, I just found out that all these years I spent studying, working my ass off for a better future are – guess what!? – wasted! Yes, it was all in vain, it turns out. A poor girl from a small country like me can’t get into a proper university. What in the world possessed me to believe that I actually had a chance, anyway? I was supposed to go to Germany. While everyone was having a childhood and had fun during their teenage years, I was stuck at home, studying, studying and studying. And today, I FINALLY found out, that my parents have been lying to me for I don’t even know how many years, and that they only faked their encouragement for my further education. I suppose investing in their bipolar child would have been in vain – I don’t even know why I couldn’t see that until now.
What’s left for me now? I guess I’ll just apply to an engineering university here and continue to study 24/7 for another half decade. And then, I can sit on my ass comfortably knowing that I’ll rot to death, unable to find a job – just like everyone else over here nowadays. All I have to worry about right now is: passing the state exams, getting accepted into university and figure out how to live in an apartment I will never be able to afford. It doesn’t matter that an excellent student like me would have easily been accepted in Germany where I could have made my own money and got through my studies easily. It doesn’t matter that I’ve been stuck at home, learning German among a million other things, just for the occasion. Nothing matters, really. What matters is, that my parents don’t feel like giving me a chance in life. That’s that.
