That didn’t answer my question, ET, but thanks for trying. Honestly, neither of us are going to change the other’s mind on this topic, so I”m done.

Thanks for for your input, Willy, but we are not even having a political discussion. Even if we were, however, it would be relevant as politics take a big part in current world events. Abortion is a current world event, too, so please explain to me how this conversation is off-topic.

“Anti-choicers insist not only that a fetus is a human being, but that this status is an objective scientific fact.” That is exactly what you are doing, and you are wrong.

And yes, Trump does want to take our rights away. And that is a current event. And so is the Texas abortion law.

Yes but they do not feel pain and have a different level of sentience than humans.

(Talking about plants)

Isn’t that the same for a fetus?

You are doing the exact opposite by claiming that they are not people. You say that because that doesn’t make killing them seem so bad. What magical thing do you think happens once a child leaves the uterus that suddenly makes them a human being (even though they are living and have human DNA well before they are born)?

I gave you Merriam’s definition of “fetus” and her definitions of “human being” and “person”, but you did not seem to care since it does not help support your claim.

I am unaware of the levels of sentience of fetuses, but I do know that in some states doctors by law have to numb the baby before performing an abortion.

You’re not very good at debates. I’ve noticed that about you before. And I’ve also noticed that you will go on and on to defend your point of view even when it is completely ridiculous and you know you are wrong.

Do you support war or the death penalty? Do you eat eggs or meat? If so, you can’t really be pro-life.

That’s you reasoning for being pro-choice. For me personally, abortion makes me sick and I think that women should be put on death row for the crime. It’s stupid to compare killing people like Ted Bundy and Adolf Hitler to innocent people who didn’t have the chance to be born. It’s ok to be pro-abortion, but you should have a better reason than “If we are supporting killing Nazi’s and Mass murderers, why not unborn fetuses”, it’s like comparing the weight of a pebble and a boulder and calling it similar. I wonder, if people want to have sex but don’t want a child, why the hell don’t they use a condom or take birth control pills.

If you support killing mass murderers, then don’t call it “pro-life.” Call it “anti-abortion.”  If the only life you want to save is a fetus, then you are not “pro-life.” It just means you care more about saving fetuses than people who have been born.

Also, if you want to save the fetus but kill the mother, then you are definitely not “pro-life.”

Pro-Lifers should petition for better benefits in jobs for woman who give birth.

Attack the reasons, not the people. Support birth control and better sex education so that less woman will be in the situation where they feel they need an abortion.

According to researchers at the Institute for Applied Physics at the University of Bonn in Germany, plants release gases that are the equivalent of crying out in pain. Using a laser-powered microphone, researchers have picked up sound waves produced by plants releasing gases when cut or injured. Although not audible to the human ear, the secret voices of plants have revealed that cucumbers scream when they are sick, and flowers whine when their leaves are cut [source: Deutsche Welle].

I’ll admit it loud and clear, I’m not a pacifist, I’ve gotten into a lot of fights as a kid and brought a pocket knife to school when I was a kid and I am not against killing as a consequence or in self defense. I’m pretty sure the proper term is pro life, although I may be wrong.

Yes, pro-life is the common term. I’m just against it because it is misleading.

@Little Piggy Dragonguy, thanks for the conversation. We can agree to disagree. I always wonder how conservative or Republican people can like The Beatles, since The Beatles (in my humble opinion) basically go against everything such a person stands for. But after all, we are all Beatles fans no matter what, and that is what matters.

Most people don’t care about a band’s morals, just whether they’re good or not. Tom Araya’s actually a Christian man even though a lot of Slayer’s music is against Christianity.

There’s no other proper thread for it. If we had a “World Views” thread, that would end up being an entire disagreement/debating thread. Which wouldn’t be good for the forum, or its members.
