Due to the nature of, the amount of, and organisation of the attacks last night it was obvious very early on that they were terrorist attacks and that almost certainly IS were behind it however the authorities have to wait until they 100% know for certainty they are before they start banding about such accusations. If you read between the lines of what the high up officials were saying in their conferences and speeches after the fact it was being said just not openly. Its certainly not going to help at the time to discuss why, who and what is the reasons for the attacks.
What is that seems odd to you @ewe2?

I don’t know, I looked at the IS statement that’s been released and they were getting details wrong and there was a lot of typical IS guff in it, just didn’t seem to be the kind of thing someone who had pulled off a successful well-planned attack would put out, but it would be if it’d been done by an independent cell and they decided to take credit anyway. Maybe things are done differently these days but I remember the terrorism of the 1970’s and if they weren’t taking credit before the bomb/hijacking/shootout they were very quick to take credit afterwards. But as it is, they think they’ve identified a Syrian and an Egyptian and a Frenchman so maybe it makes no difference anyway. Horrible people are celebrating today 🙁

Offline What the hell is going on in the world?
Tonight the Germany Holland game in Hannover was cancelled 2 hours before kick-off due to concrete bomb threats, an ambulance was found outside the ground filled with explosives, Hannover train station has been closed, a music venue in the same city evacuated.
Edit: Now reporting no explosives were found. I know we have to live our lives without fear but all of this makes me very happy that I stay in the middle of nowhere. Not that absolutely guarantees my safety.

Reports of three gunmen killed, a woman blowing herself up, three arrests and three police officers injured (tho not seriously). The area is on lockdown, the army and police have the whole area surrounded.
