Joni Mitchell is in “intensive care” in an LA hospital after being found unconscious at her Bel Air home yesterday. She has regained consciousness and is undergoing tests. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Tony Blair is giving a speech backing Ed Milliband and attacking the Tories. Cause when you need someone to back you up and speak on your behalf you call Mr Blair.
David Cameron is in Scotland, should have saved his train fare.
No doubt for political fairness i should mention the Lib Dems but there really is no point.

Well I would vote next month but unfortunately I’m not quite 18, therefore my opinion is worthless.Hmm… how to get young people interested in politics? Ah, why don’t we deny them the right to have a say? That’ll do it.
Well, it was 21 for a long long time – it’s an interesting question as to what is a good age to start voting. I guess the time when you can legally start having a family seems sensible and that is 16 here.

I saw this great picture in the newspaper of David Cameron feeding an “orphaned lamb”- I guess he’s aiming for the ‘cute votes’.
If he’s reelected it’s bad news for Ireland as Cameron wants the UK out of the EU and the UK is our biggest trading partner. That would mean the end of free trade and barriers to trade would probably be put up meaning if Britain was importing goods from other countries they’d be more expensive!
Hmmm I should study economics…

70 years ago today Belsen was liberated by the British. The true horror of Nazi Germany began to be revealed.
A dark day in history, and proof that war is sometimes a neccessary evil, and to turn away and not defend the weak is the real crime.

Tomorrow is election day in the UK. It’s still impossible to tell which way things will go.
I hope that all those who have a vote will use it. Democracy is important.
My vote counts for nothing. I live in an extremely safe seat for a party I do not support. There isn’t a hope in hell of it changing. I will still be exercising my democratic right and responsibility though.
Democracy matters. I don’t care who you vote for (though I have my preferences), but please vote.

A Conservative majority. All the opinion polls were wide of the mark. The Lib Dem leader has just resigned, the Labour leader expected to go shortly.
The UK can expect five more years of divide and rule, right wing propaganda, lies and misinformation, punishing austerity, further dismantling of the NHS, BBC cuts, demonisation of the poor, rewards for the rich, privatisation and commercialisation of education, healthcare and other public services. Grim days.

^ Ye’re getting the Olivia surge as well, then? Every 5th girl or so under the age of 5 that I meet is called Olivia either that or Emily. I mean honestly, surely you’d want to come up with a more original name- then again my name was #13 in the year I was born
The most popular baby names in Ireland in 2014 were:
Boys :
All hail the rise of the nicknames being used as first names
Girls:
Biggest difference between the top 20 when I was born and now is that there is a lot less traditional Irish names on the list.
Yes I know the irony but my middle name is Irish…no it isn’t I lied
I’m a walking hypocrite :'(

Well then you’ll probably agree with Paul Krugman:

Well then you’ll probably agree with Paul Krugman:
Every word. His assessment is excellent. This was a political PR coup based on a false narrative in order to impose small-state ideology on the country. Austerity was never necessary when borrowing was cheap and stimulus was a straightforward way to take the country out of recession. The Conservatives repeated some simple key phrases over and over which the public seems to have swallowed, and it was hard for the left to respond with a necessarily nuanced riposte. Most of the country isn’t particularly politically engaged so messages such as “Labour maxed out the nation’s credit card” cannot help but resonate, whatever their validity. I hate the Conservatives’ ideology but can’t help but be impressed with their campaign.
