Why is the news always sad?
That’s a good question! I want to start a happy newspaper/website/channel. There’s probably some happy news, but the BBC only alerts me of depressing stuff.
I found a happy news site here but it isn’t current.

I don’t wear makeup. I never have. I’ve had people after they have been around me for a while say, “Hey, I just noticed you are not wearing any makeup.” I wonder how long my aging face will live up to this ideal situation I’ve been lucky with so far.

Cue overreaction and calls for all dogs to be destroyed if not on a lead and muzzled 24 hours a day. I wonder where the owner was.
Good on the cat. Both of mine would just glimpse over and then go back to lying in the sun.

a cat saved a kid from a dog
I saw that… Really interesting. I just wonder why the dog attacked that kid.

There is controversy over the 9/11 museum.

Go to National September 11 Memorial Museum to learn about Ground Zero and one of the worst terrorist attacks in history – and whilst there why not pick up a mug, t-shirt, bracelet or key chain.
Some of what they are selling (search and rescue toy dogs, water bottles) seems inappropriate and/or tacky, considering the events, to me.

I have a bigger problem with having the remains of victims being there and not buried

Yeah but the families of those killed in the attacks get in for free so its fine (that’s a sarcastic comment by the way, i dont agree with the decision to keep them there in the slightest).
Should point out that the remains are not open to the public for viewing.
Article in the Washington Post
Other family members petitioned and protested against the decision to make those remains a part of a repository at the museum — even though the area would be closed to the public, and the museum will remain free to all 9/11 relatives.
Kurt Horning suggested that the shock factor of including those remains was more important than respect for the wishes of 9/11 families.

On a lighter note,
A Dutch radio DJ, Giel Beelen broke the record of non-stop radiomaking. He wanted to do this to celebrate his 10 years of work by 3FM, which is my favourite radiostation. The former record was 190 hours, and was in hands of a Belgian DJ. Giel broke the record, by making it a 198 hours. He wasn’t allowed to sleep a lot, about 2.5 hours every two days or so. The rules make it very dangerous for your health. Anyway, he made it. Congratulations Giel!

Sorry to rain on the parade but if he is asleep for 2 1/2 hours a day hasnt he stopped radio making?
Not a day, every two days. And nope, but he was supposed to announce every song that was playing, either before or afterwards. I haven’t really been listening when he was sleeping, so I don’t know how they took care of that exactly. There were special rules for it. It’s a record that has been broken many times.

He could play five hour long songs and sleep then

It doesn’t work like that. I don’t know the specific rules. Just google them if you want to know.
